Do those "baking tray" things they put the news desk on have ramps? The had Frank Gardner talking to Kaplinsky on the six at the desk. Thankfully they didn't do a Tanny Grey-Thompson at Sports Personality a few years ago!

I imagine the platform will have a ramp for Frank, after all this studio is about making space for the correspondant, and it is widely known that Frank is disabled. Also Frank was in the studio several times, when they had the old platform. Its not that exspensive to create a ramp.

so does anyone know when newsnight/working lunch/newsround get their new look? Is it Monday?

I presume the hatching is for line-up purposes...

(and it looks like the floor will be black)

It looks more like a night club. Didn't the national floor have a black protective sheeting on it, until it was peeled off?

Do you think they will be sitting on Bins? that will be great Paxo and his guest on whellie bins, kind of ironic!

I hope I'm not the only one who smiled at the "this way up box" being opened the wrong way up.

I'd seen a little ramp - not unlike the kind you get on trains - in use with the previous N6 set; I'd imagine it's just the same kind of thing.

To not have disabled access would be against the Disability Discrimination Act, so I'm sure they've thought of this kind of thing!

Have the BBC been taken over by the first group or something, or maybe they have gone with the nightclub theme.

It looks like it's gonna be exactly the same "shoebox" shape as the N6 set! (Apart from presumably having a black/dark floor (for Newsnight's benefit - it wouldn't matter for Newsround and Working Lunch), and no red horizontal stripe at "waist height").

If it wasn't for the fact that (A) some programmes clash with each other (e.g the1/WL; the10/NN), and (B) NN needs a dark floor, then they might as well have EVERYTHING coming from N6! Rolling Eyes

It kind of looks like a cross between NewsNight review and, as you say a nightclub....
