I agree with the standing actually. As Chris said it does give variety. At school I certainly listened to the teachers who were more animated rather than those who just sat on their backside behind a desk.

I really do like the new studio
I love the backdrops except Breakfast's but I suppose that will change.
I like the element of standing. TBH, did you really expect the BBC to have such a massive screen installed and have no standing!? That would be a waste
News these days need it. Its gone beyond the days of formal desk sitting news. It needs shiney lights and big screens!
The BBC have made the right decision in giving the Ten its own look. I've said it before that it needs to be one programe and not the same as the others. I think mabey formats could be changed, but then again I havent really seen the 1 or 6 yet. Possibly Huw on the ten walking around a bit more rather than standing?

I just dont like the two step walk for the daytimes. Whats the use!!

the tour of the CSO set for the local elections of the website is rather amusing. Especially the man with the cloth over him

Is this still on the bbc.co.uk site, I can't find it Shocked

I'm at uni at the moment, so I only saw the new BBC News sets yesterday.

They look like they were designed by an 8-year-old using a shoebox!!! Laughing

Perhaps your opinion doesn't matter then since you only watch the programmes on such an irregular basis. I think the general opinion on the forum is that it's an improvement, or at least a starting point.

I'm not surprised most of you don't like the Breakfast set. I work in the studio and I haven't found a positive comment yet from staff. ( Apart from management ) Even Sian hates it and is fed up trundling about from desk to sofa. The floor is lifting up after 4 days and the set looks grubby.

We should have listened to you when you posted this in January...

I know! Lets get a 3 sided box set using cheap projectors and screens. Then change the furniture. That will be a great new look. I'm so impressed by the mock up of the new set. Not.

The white floor definately needs a rethink. But then it is sticky backed plastic so what do you expect?!?!

Well she must have been happy this morning as she was behind the desk all the way through to 8.30!

The latest Newsnight studio shot makes me think it might look rather similar to the Nationals studio! The black mats will sit underneath the 'high-tech screens'. Think they got a bulk discount?

will breakfast be in N6 at weekends now considering that they won't have to move from TC7 anymore?

And does anyone else think News 24 looks out of place with their graphics and titles compared to BBC one's glassy style?

That's good to hear! I just find it shocking that it can go on air with gaps between the screens, views of wires etc underneath the breakfast sofa, bodged corners... I think the look is a big improvement, but it's detailed execution is shocking. The 10 does look best, although those lighthouse style flashing lights on the background are a bit distracting.
