50 odd pages is hard to read through!! I've been away for a bit and havent kept up with the thread. I saw part of news at 6 tonight and it certainly was an improvement with the extra space. I think it has a bit of a feeling of the old itv news set (flying squares era), maybe no - one else agrees. Anyway, I was trying to work out is it projection screens or VR? It confused me with the 3D graphic on the floor, similar to in itv news.
The odd "abstract" liens and blocks that you see in the images are supposed to represent a reflection as if you were looking out of an office window. Look towards the top and you may notice the outline of the light boxes. This should be easier to recognise when you see a nighttime bulletin.
The marks on the floor are position marks for either bits of set or cameras. I know it looks mucky but these marks are required.
Having a generic city backdrop, supposedly London but not that specific, its a bit GMTV
You can see the London Eye - defo London!
I used to be against a London backdrop, but I think they've got this right. It's not a Thames TV fake London, it's what you see from W12, so a sense of realism.
The 10 backdrop, and lighting generally, does look stunning.

That really does look beautiful. The night scene set I mean, not Mr Edwards.
Does the backdrop for the other bullitins animate, or is this unique for the Ten? Have to say that the studio looks absolutely amazing, with it looking the best at Breakfast and the Ten. Why couldn't they have used projectors like this for the previous set, then it might not have been quite so tiny.

I thought that was the case. Bizarre idea though - it hasn't really carried off, it just looks ugly. The backdrop looks so much better on those shots where those "reflections"aren't in shot. Having said that, they do look better on the 10 than they did on the 1 or 6. But hopefully they'll get rid of these strange alien shapes in the sky before too long!
My only other criticism of the set is the corners, as others have said, which would have been better off as a wider curve. I've never been keen on the low ceiling, but credit where credit is due - they have done wonders with what little space they have available. I do prefer the shots, though, where the ceiling is kept out of shot.
I could only grab about 5 minutes viewing of Breafast this morning and honestly thought they were sitting in front of cardboard.
The background looks TERRIBLE on the close-up shot, and somebody has monumentally f*cked up their measurements to get a join just inches away from the corner.
If that was my bathroom tiles, I'd expect the workmen to take them down and start again- it's an amateurish and frankly embarassing mistake.
