I still have my reservations about the setup, but one cant help wonder about this comment over at DS:

"Looks claustrophic compared to the old one."

Some points:
*Broken joints between projector cubes really need to be fixed, or hidden somehow.
*Are the titles (on the One anyway, so far) meant to turn a shade of purple as they unfold off screen?
*The music ending on the main titles is weak.
*The angular corners dont look good at all. They need to be broken by a pillar or curving corner wall.
*Sofa, desk, fine.
*Breakfast background, meh, it's ok, but there's bound to be better backgrounds then the cliched "heavenly clouds" look.
*Main news background, fine, there are no recognisable landmarks to say 'this is London', so its ok in that respect.

It really does look scruffy with the marks on the floor (I pity those with HDTV!)

And I also don't like the light boxes. Should have been more like the big circles above the News 24 newsroom.

And how anyone can say this corner is acceptable is beyond me...

Finally, the bar to the right of the clock has to go!

Think it looks good generally - especially on the 1. A fresh, clean set up making the best use of the space available. Will be interesting to see the dark version of the background for the 10.

In any case, it's certainly better than the old set - looking at the new one, it's hard to believe that the tiny old one was in the same studio!

Personally, going against a lot of you, I think the new set is smashing! And personally I like the softer ending of the main opening titles, it works. The purple touch is nice too.

Fantastic. The BBC have actualy got a nice set. Shame its still extreamly "box like" but still, a huge improvement on the graphics. I dont see how News 24's apperance fits into this though. The set is square, however the News 24 one is very much circular. Hum...

excellent job though.

Is it a different desk from Breakfast then, or am I just imagining it?

The colour is definately different. It was more orange on Breakfast:

It must just be lit differently inside.

Have to say im loving the new look, tuned into breakfast this morning and seen the mismatch of the clouds in the background and didnt like it but after watching it for longer, its growing on me and definately looks better than any previous sets. Well done BBC!!!!

Loving the re-jigged titles (apart from the little dodgy "NEWS" not being the right size Laughing ).

yeh, its always pretty shoddy when they cant even get their own logo right. surely, someone on the team must have noticed it. mind you, bbc mids have been using a similarly botched bbc new logo on their deaf bulletins for years.

Looks better then the old set, but the backdrops just look nasty and need to re-done.

I like the new set, too bad they are not implementing it for BBC World News.
