I'm still apprehensive about this set. The desk is rather fab, but I'm still unsure about the screens - is that curious cubism effect intentional?
I do love those astons though - very simple but I approve (which is what really counts, of course). The one graphic I don't like is the two-line headline bug - the BBC logo sits quite uncomfortably in the bottom line, and I'm not too sure about having the upper line semi-transparent.
I like it very much. Would prefer much stronger music, and better graphics. However I am disapointed that when Darren is standing up it looks very similar ITV News presentation - with looking at the screen, and it looks as though its fake. But we know its not.
I agree with you both on the astons, they are much more professional and look great on screen. The 'newish' titles are also pretty good, although I'm not quite sure what they have done with the music at the end of the titles when then 'wipe' into the presenter, didn't seem to fit somehow, but thats just being picky.
I love the whole new look, and I know that people keep mentioning but I can't believe how big the studio looks, so much more spacious. The whole new look seems that much more streamline.
I really don't mind the background because even though it might be London, you can't really tell. And I'm sure that they will iron out some of the glitches in time.
The recap at the end has lost the silly mock news 24 graphic and just stayed with Darren in vision.
Overall i like the astons and the glassy effect on the titles the most. The desk is nice as well.
Not sure on the studio, i will have to wait and see, and the story slug looks wrong with BBC on the bottom. I think that all the name astons should wipe on the screen, not just when the live aston is up, and the LIVE part should not disapear when the name wipes off.
Weather in the studio shows up the blockyness on the screen.
I also think the headline bed should have been replaced with one similar to the 13:15 recap, other than that i have to say a step in the right direction 7/10.
