From the brief look I've had I'd say it was great.

Do we really have to have endless teenagers moaning about "messy edges" etc?

You kids don't know you're born.

You flatter me, but no, it's been a while since I was a teenager!

You say we don't know we're born, but I'm sorry - the 'virtual' era set was far more professionally done than this pitiful effort. It looks like a painted on mural which has been bodged in the corners. Until one cloud faded out to be replaced by another one I really did think it was just some painted scenery!

It's a great idea, very badly executed.

I completely agree Moz.

And Gavin, I've not been a teenager for many years now either. Indeed, the fact that I can remember right back to the cardboard efforts of the 1970s gives me a good evidence base upon which I can say how today's new look is a bodged effort rather than a great technological or artistic step forward - in my opinion.

In the video clip Sian talked about where Breakfast got their sunset from, so why the hell didn't they use it!?! It looks better than the clouds, and you have the blue clashing with the orange. Orange all the way around would have been better.

Also did anybody else notice the green screen when Sian was walking? I take it that will be the VR area.

What time's the first BBC One bulletin due? 11am?

Overall feelings on the new set...

For Breakfast, it just seems a bit too big and empty. I think Breakfast needs to feel a bit more 'cosy'. The clouds background is a bit bland as well - although better than the HQ of BAA or whatever it was. I think the skyline seen on the preview of the Nationals would work much better.

The main problem, as others have said, is the blocks of the screens just don't match up right. The shade of blue varied from one block to the next. Maybe with a bit of tweaking it could improve. Also moving out of the corner at Breakfast would help.

I'm hoping there'll be tweaks and improvements over the next few weeks. It could be very good, but isn't quite there at the moment.

Love the new Astons on the daytime bulletin - hopefully these will also be used on the 1,6 and 10.

...and Yay - the fried egg titles are gone!!!

EDIT - was N6 used for the summary?

N6 was used, with the Skyline backdrop seen on the Breakfast preview. It looked much better than Breakfast IMO.

The beginning of the bulletin just began with a wide-shot of the studio with a plain BBC NEWS logo keyed on - simple but effective.

The astons featured two shades of red, plus a grey bar at the left with a BBC logo in it. Looked very good - as if some thought had gone into them for a change.

i didn't like the fact you could see the corners of the blue screens which made it look tatty.

I still think a live panorama of the london skyline would be better as it would change daily according seasons and weather outside.

will be interesting to see how the main news programmes look later

Is it just me, or is there something very 'Blue Peter titles' about the swirly transition from the titles to the studio?

Another thought - it'll be interesting to see how the 10 looks with a dark skyline.

We got a glimpse on the early morning bulletin of what the nationals may look like, and I must say the London skyline works very well.
