The "broadening your horizons on Tuesday" bit. Where's that from? Sounds like a strapline - which would make sense if they were promoting the new look, but I thought they weren't doing so.
I presume it's something to do with the set which sounds like it'll have some sort of way of making the walls appear like the outside (hence someone saying the only blue bit would be if the sky was blue). So therefore there'd be horizons in the background.
One thing which I don't think has been discussed is if they will continue to use an aston for showing what story the anchor is talking about. Or maybe they will revert back to using a sidebar?
Sidebar as in picture window/inset? Certainly I hope this rebrand will herald such a return - the MCU of presenter is so bland without it, especially with widescreen and the acres of dead space it generates with the human form, an aspect ratio wholly inappropriate for studio production.
And please God indeed the laptops are ditched - stupid, silly, ridiculous, achingly contrived distractions of things. (You might have gathered I'm not their greatest fan )
they could have a live web view like the local news have
it would look a lot better than gmtv's 13 year old photo backdrop which looks daft in winter when it's dark betwen 6 & 8am and they have a daytime view behind them

Of where though? That's the entire point that we've been arguing about. It has to represent the whole UK, if not the whole world (and Sky'd pretty much got that option sewn up!).
Don't know if anyone has mentioned this but there are some fantastic new trails running at half past an on the hour on News 24. Very short. All with revamped BBC news theme and presenters like Kate silverton, Huw Edwards, Ben Brown declaring that you can get the 'headlines every 15 minutes on BBC News 24'. All with a swooping camera shot with presenters in foreground and background. All leading up to Tuesday I'm guessing. Very nice!

These have been running for ages now and are to promote the News 24 line -up - nothing to do with the new nationals set.
what i want to know is why the BBC haven't promoted the re-launch at all, i haven't seen anything on News 24 or BBC one, i thought there might be at least something before the news.

As I keep saying it's evolution rather than revolution ...
so... it doesn't mean they can't show off the fact they're having a new set.
Why bother? Most of the general public won't be on the edge of their seats over a new set - much better to promote what BBC News does best - like in recent It's What We Do promos ... the News 24 have a real purpose to promote the new line up and to re-inforce headlines every 15 minutes on the channel.
