I think some people may be a little disappointed with the new nationals set.

Think alongs the lines of what Tony Hare's philosophy was when he was lunching with Alan Partridge, not babies and bathwater.

Ofcourse it depends on what people are expecting but I've been quite impressed with certain elements of it.

So is it more than a desk and a CSO backdrop?

From Wikipedia:
At the moment, work is being carried out at the BBC to create a new BBC news set for the main national and international news. This new set will be revealed on television on May 2nd, coinciding with the return of newsreader Sophie Rayworth who will be the anchor for the One O'clock News on BBC One and BBC News 24.

Interesting, because it seemed to me that it was a domestic update. Also, I have been noticing that the sets might be temp because the Bullitens with Katty Kay have been face onlyish, with just the desk surface, not the bottom, leading me to belive that it is a cso and a temp desk.

From Wikipedia on the Moira Stuart Profile

"BBC Breakfast is moving to a new studio with a new look in early May 2006, and the entire news content will be presented by the two main presenters."

From Wikipedia on the Breakfast pages:

"Moira Stuart presented her last bulletin for Breakfast on 26 April 2006 ahead of the programme moving to the same studio used by the One, Six and Ten (o'clock) programmes. In May 2006, Breakfast will have a new look and will be fronted by two main news presenters thoughout the programme. There will no longer be a separate newsreader for the news summaries."

We're all led to believe that the new set will only be BBC UK National news and not Washington/World... sorry and all, seamus.

Surely, they will want to keep the current colour scheme, so it fits in with News 24, especially now the 1,6 and 10 are simulcast.

By which it means the 1/6/10 o'clock news (I imagine) - covers the national and international news. Don't think it means BBC World

Okay. I really don't see why the sets must change. I really like them. And my uncle is an "insider", and won't tell me a thing, but he says its better.

I'm in agreement with Nicky. I'm rather impressed.

Out of interest, who's been the designer of the set this time?

I'll tell you one reason I'll be glad for them to get back into N6 - not only is the lighting awful in their temporary home, the sound is terrible too. It's really noticable when the N24 countdown ends and the 1/6/10 thunderclap happens.
