Obviously employees are duty bound to their contracts and loyalty to their work place is important, especially if they are well known, Nicky for example as you touched upon, Dunedin.

However I'm also suspisious that under all this, mainly in regards to anonymous members with "insider knowledge", that it is simply more fun for them, possibly being on a power trip, knowing something that others don't. But if this is the only way they can get their kicks in life, from an internet forum rather than getting thrills in the real world, so be it!

I am guessing, and could be completely wrong, but what with Ford's final bulletin coming up this Thursday, and Sophie taking over the helm of the One after the bank holiday weekend, I would not be surprised if May 2nd is the date for at least some of the changes to air, if not all.

I think it's more about us craving knowledge about the BBC and wanting to feel like we're "inside" as opposed to not knowing what the set looks like. I also think that Nicky and Mark are top blokes and whether they choose to divulge any information I don't really care - can't we just wait till Tuesday like the rest of the public who probably won't notice much?

The sad fact is Breakfast isn't really a "sit down and watch it" programme - more a bleary-eyed, half-watch in bed, stick on in the background, look at for the time, type of programme. So probably half the general public won't notice for about a week or more.

It would be interesting to see if a psycologist went through this forum, they'd have a field day! My comments were simply an observation, thinking outloud (if that can work on a forum) and not aimed at a specific member. Moreover for the record, I completely agree that Nicky and Mark are definately top blokes, and a complete mine of information, and we should all feel privileged that they do actually share what they can with us.

Naturally this is a place for gossip and speculation, with most members having a hunger to know things before the general public. If members were happy to wait until a relaunch, or change had taken place, this site would not exist. But at the same time it's crucial not to be ungrateful for the information which can be given to us, and appreciate why full details cannot be made available. And to be honest, it would be a little boring if they were!

The Newsround studio definetely looks smaller, and the sofa/chairs/whatever are touching the blue 'walls' which looks really bad.

I never really get the secrecy surrounding inside knowledge on this site. Can understand if your real identity is known (e.g. NickyS) but not so with anonymous members of staff who post here.

However, the set design is neither confidential, sensitive or remotely of relevance to anyone other than those interested in TV presentation.

All in all therefore, I really don't see the big issue with insiders revealing knowledge anonymously.

Nobody will really care.

It's irrelevent if it's someone using a real name or a psudonym - it's still confidential information. At the end of the day it's in all employees interest not to give away non-public information abut their employer. And acting 'in the interest of' the employer is normally written into employment contracts.

I know lots of sensitive and confidential stuff about my employer but no matter how much I thought that 'nobody would care' I wouldn't disclose it in public (especially on the internet particually TV Forum) because there are a small bunch of people who really would like to know - our rivals.

It's the same with those at the BBC

But you're clearly wrong.

The information is not "sensitive and confidential".

Are you really suggesting that outside builders contracted in to build the new set have signed secrecy contracts?

Get real.

I could understand if it was say a broadcasting concept for the run up to an election or something that a competitor could find remotely useful to know.

But knowledge of a new set design which WILL go on public release in a few days is not sensitive at all. You could argue that the date of release IS sensitive, and this is the thing that our insiders revealed first, presumably once more because nobody at the BBC cares if people know.

If a BBC news bigwig was interviewed, say by Media Guardian, about Sophie Raworth taking over the 1, and was directly asked a question as to what the new set looked like, I'm absoutely certain they would happily describe it.

They most certainly wouldn't say- "sorry, you'll have to wait and see it's a big secret".

We're talking MDF, screens, plastic and lights here, not company strategy.

Really.

Nobody about from people interested in TV presentation gives a damn.

I don't think anyone from inside has confirmed the re-launch date to be fair. You have all been speculating but no one has confirmed it as with all projects like this dates can slip and things can happen - we all remember Sky's re-launch being on so many confirmed dates!

Not surprising really - Newsround, Newsnight and Working Lunch are all squeezing into the studio previously used for Liquid News, Celebdaq and BBC Three's Seven O'Clock News, which is less than half the size.

The Newsround set is massively smaller - if you could see through the walls you'd see a lot of "Newsnight Newsnight Newsnight"...

All I can say is "Thank goodness for wide angle lenses"

But they would be under contract to their company under the same terms. It's basic client confidentiality - a good contractor wouldn't give out details of what work was taking place. Even if it's not an official thing it's still common sense and basic politeness to not blurt out details

Using that logic no information is sensitive because it will all be public at some point

If that's the case... why is no-one from the BBC saying anything then? If the set was so unimportant they wouldn't ever change it in the first place

You'd be surprised how sensitive TV companies are about their 'look' and studio. I have been involved in programme and channel launches, set rebuilds and rebrands (in fact I am involved in something along those lines at the moment) and all of these have been quite closely guarded even down to the smallest detail.

I don't know what line of work you're in, but if your company was changing or launching something, you would be expected to keep your trap shut about it too

I'd expect if Ms Raworth was interviewed about the set, she would say something like, "well, I can't tell you everything at the moment as there's a lot of preparation going on, and we're still getting used to it, but I can tell you there's going to be lots of ......... and less ........... this time so you'll just have to keep your eyes peeled!"

Breakfast in their new studio with a new look on Tuesday, so I presume this means the 1/6/10 will be ready then too.

It also says that there will be more news on Friday, so could we see a preview of the new set then?
