Bland and unrecogniseable though is probably quite good for a regional like Granada.
It isn't like the old backdrop had anything really recogniseable in it either, and to be
honest apart from a view down Coronation Street I'm not sure what would
constitute a recogniseable backdrop from Manchester anyway.

Ah well, that's Manchester's curse. It's a shame they don't broadcast from Liverpool - that has a very recognisable backdrop.

Except they're not broadcasting Granada Reports from Manchester anymore ... it's from Salford now! They cannot
have any Manchester backdrop in the new studio (recognisable or otherwise) unless they use green screen CSO.

Does the desk have to move to cope with the windows?

In bright sunshine at some times of day at some times of the year, that window backdrop could be a curse if they can't? I wonder if the gallery backdrop might feature more at some points?

The titleboard has the Liver building on it, looking rather prominent, no sign of anything mancunian on it either.

Lucy Meacock looking uncomfortable throughout.

Lighting seems better tonight but have they got a filter on the windows or not using daylight bulbs in their lights, as outside doesn't seem quite balanced in comparison....

I think the programme is looking brilliant. The set looks smart, and the recent new look is a massive improvement on what came before. We're lucky in the North West to have both our BBC and ITV regional news at such a good standard.

"Congrats to @GranadaReports dumping sofa for their new set.News is serious & shdnt be delivered from casual seating. #deskbest #myopinion"

Now - remind me which North West regional programme now presents the news from a sofa...!

It's a wall which is sand/orange coloured. You can see it at 4:04 on the above YouTube video.

Chairs or sofa... the new seating arrangement is not that different to the previous - the presenters are pretty much sat at the same height with a table (it is hardly a desk) that is roughly the same difference in height as the previous table and sofas were.

I'd say that news is too serious to be delivered from space chairs...

He should also say that news is serious and should be presented behind a desk not a coffee table, but neither BBC or ITV seem to agree when it comes to regional.
