I remember in 2002 they tried a week with just So Rahman presenting Granada Reports. He did used to present with Lucy on occasions.

Like you said I last heard he was at Al Jazeera English.

I wonder if he could have made it to ITV National News. Maybe he still could!

I have a very vague memory of So Rahman presenting national ITV News years back - from the first "Theatre of News" set. That said I could be inventing it!

Edit: In fact, I've found a reference here to So Rahman presenting the ITV News Channel http://tvforum.uk/tvhome/old-itv-news-1824/page-138. That will be what I was talking about. God knows how I remembered that though after all these years!

Other Granada presenters to have made it to ITN are Lucy Meacock and Tony Morris. Lucy having had many more stints than Tony. Can anyone remember any other Granada presenters who have presented national ITV News?

Granada had a decent crop of newsreaders in the 90s but IMO have never really found anyone on a par with Lucy Meacock to replace Bob Greaves. Still find the partnership with Tony incredibly forced, even at 13 years and counting. They are both better on their own.

Yes October 2007 he presented a Saturday Night Bulletin.

I agree, their partnership always seems forced. The programme is better when Lucy is paired with Rob Smith and even more so IMO Mike Hall. Neither North West regional partnerships seem to come over that well together. Annabelle is better with Stuart Flinders than Roger for example.

To think Granada used to have different presenters for GMTV bulitins, mid morning/lunchtime, afternoon, the main programme and the late bulletin. Lucy and Tony don't have it as cushy as they once did. You would never see Lucy on a late bulitin a few years ago for example.

Surely that is reflective of most ITV regions nowadays? Lucy never appears on Fridays anymore, but aside she's always there for the late bulletins.

Lucy was always best with Anthony Wilson or Bob Greaves, but both sadly no longer with us.

As much has I see Granada Reports (currently HD in the YTV region) I find Tony Morris an awful presenter. No warmth, squints at the autocue. And when I have seen Roger Johnson on the other side he comes across as a nervous wreck. Oh for the days of Stuart Hall . . .. oh.

Each to their own, I think Tony is brilliant.

As I mentioned a few weeks ago the Tony and Lucy Partnership has lasted for 13 years. (I am not starting a longest partnership discussion again). It must be working as both still there.

I like Tony and Lucy and I am looking forward to Lucy marking 30 Years in a few years.

When you think of how Granada has changed over the years; different sets, graphics, formats, theme songs and locations. Lucy has been there for most of it and still shows signs of being a fresh faced presenter.
