Indeed quite unusual, but the last Headline was about Whopee cushions and then onto the top story about the dad who killed his kids, understandable of the sting I guess.

How strange. Granada have just used a Granada Reports sting at the top of the programme - not usually a sting.
(Almost like the old north west tonight)

I thought that too, it was kind of odd. Not seeing her on the national news, but in the promo and saying what is coming up.
Maybe its just because its half term week and Katie hasn't been in all week, but I'm starting to think Lucy might be on her way out of Granada. If she is thinking of her career then she will be, but if she does go it will be a huge loss to the region I think.

I don't think there will be a permanent role for her with the national news anytime soon though - she's pretty far down the pecking order really. I'm sure in these current times the security of her role at Granada is crucial to her (although perhaps if the region had been affected by the recent cuts she may have volunteered to quit) - and for ITV it's better to bring in someone from the regions than have another person officially on the rota at the national news.

It's a rehearsal of the procedures for breaking the news of the death of various important people, e.g. the Queen. They obviously have to rehearse such things off air in order to get them right should the event actually occur. For Lucy to be involved in them suggests that she's going to be presenting at ITN fairly regularly.

I cant see Lucy leaving Granada to become a permanent presenter on the national news. I remember Lucy Owen from HTV Wales used to present the national news like Lucy from Granada currently does and she never became a regular at ITV News. Now she is presenting on BBC Wales.
Also with Romilly back at the ITV News there is less reason to need Lucy there. She is prob there this week because Katie is off for half term and its Mary's day off having done the EN and News at Ten all week.
