I was away at 6pm but it's a shame they couldn't have extended the bulletin after News At Ten, literally there was only two reports then the Weather, although I understand ITV is complex and Regional News can't be extended, but today it should have been.

Definitely. Lots of retweeting, but then BBC got in there too 'claiming' the story. She did a great job - just shows you that in many cases, it's the right place/right time. I remember Alex Crawford said that regarding her excellent Libya coverage.

He's been off screen for about three weeks or so now anyway, as he's said on Twitter he's on a cruise, so I can't see him being back on anytime soon.

Is the fact he is an employee preventing Granada from reporting this via itv.com or Twitter?

Or the fact that until the police find something, it's a non-story?

Non-story is something which ITV plc regions often cover and even so the BBC and others are reporting on this.

Granada online took up the story after 1pm today.

It's going to be very uncomfortable when Lucy and Tony have to deliver this news on tonight's Granada Reports. Fred Talbot has been like a cuddly mascot on the programme for over 25 years, held in so much affection by the rest of the team and by many loyal viewers.

Interesting that during the report there was no reference to him being part of the programme (that I noticed). Nothing on the website report either. Just "weatherman Fred Talbot...". I don't think he'll be back.
