I have to say, hours on - you’ve got to feel some sympathy for Victoria Derbyshire if the powers above make such ridiculous decisions.

And this has been one of my major concerns since Derbyshire replaced normal NC content that when she does breaking news, it jars and is obvious.

On a normal day, the format can just about get away with it (bar the annoying radio style time checks), but it doesn't ever work during breaking news. Grenfell, the Manchester bombing and now this

Couldn’t agree more. So then why can’t they shelve her when they’ve no problem shelving other shows? It’s very bizarre. VD always gets to air. Remember the bulletin when she was put in studio E. Seems like they have no choice?

I agree. VD is a very good presenter but her fort is human interest stories not breaking news

I think the issue here is that although this was breaking news, it was expected and could be planned for to an extent, so it's strange decision to start the Victoria Derbyshire programme at 10:00 as if it was any other day.

Exactly, could have got it out of the way at 9am today.

It was an unusual decision but maybe there was some unknown reason why the scheduling wasn't altered. Maybe it was an attempt by the BBC to have some kind of "normality" in the day.

...or not at all.

Tomorrow's Politics Live which was due to be a conference special has been moved from 12:00 to 11:15, still ending at 13:00.

The live pictures of Joanna Cherry looks a bit awful on Prime Time on RTÉ One. She is speaking live from the BBC Newsroom in BH.

I didn't see today's show, but surely once it became a BBC News Special, there was no reason not to go double headed with whoever was reading the news into the programme?

C4 News took the sensible decision to have Jon Snow in the lobby at the Palace of Westminster instead of at the Labour Party Conference this evening.

The BBC News is turning into a comedy farce, people holding signs, not just in the background but practically 2cm behind Huw. God knows what Laura K just said as I doubt anyone took notice.

Of course, they could be hosting the programme from a nice studio rather than in the torrential rain in the dark, but there you go.

You beat me to it!

They've totally lost the plot with this obsession to be outside
