Bercow could be the new Dianne Abbott on Andrew Neil’s sofa.

I don't think anyone would aspire to be the new Dianne Abbott. Even Dianne Abbott.

Not even Diane Abbott

2100-2230 on the News Channel is billed as a News Special in the EPG, though as with recent evenings, it's a double-header with Christian Fraser on College Green and Ros Atkins and his giant iPad on the balcony in BH.

Sky News Tonight with Dermot Murnaghan running past 9 from Westminster Studio.

Edit. Finished 21.33.

Anna Botting taking over.

It's increasingly common for the midnight finish for the News Channel to be too early, especially considering how different Newsday always is from whatever the News Channel was showing before. Even the extra half hour before a pre-record would have been welcome over the past week or so.

Interesting BBC Parliament had to remove all its graphics bar the LIVE slug just to change the date at midnight.

The BBC Parliament prorogation commentators have been on top form this morning. A little bit lost for words after the incident when Black Rod entered the chamber.

BBC Parliament commentator Daniel Brittain slightly thrown by the fade to black after a shot of the Commons clock - the Westminster roof cam has been hastily put to air as the commentators continue.

BBC Parliament covered proceedings with Daniel Britain, Mark D'Arcy and Dr Ruth Fox appearing out of vision, with their usually thorough analysis of the constitutional minutae.

Sky News also covered proceedings in full, had Jon Craig in the Westminster newsroom alongside their presenter in the studio, plus a live camera in the central lobby, which was a useful addition to the Parliament feed.

The BBC News channel appears to have almost entirely ignored it all, save for a brief update at 2am. Newsday's gonna Newsday, but it does feel like Prorogation would get a bit more of a mention on World at other times of day.

BBC Parliament didn't have any pictures from the lobby like Sky did as shown above.

Last time this happened and they went over midnight it took a long while to notice and I can't remember if they ever did change it. Presumably the date stamp isn't an actual "clock" as such and is just a static caption.

Sky News’s coverage was very good considering the time of night. They really took over the public service broadcasting role in the absence of BBC News Channel coverage.

Shout out to Ruth Fox whose "he's not gonna leave" was very much picked up and made me chuckle.

He did obviously leave in the end, but what an end to an incredible (in the sense of it being non-standard, not that it was good) evening.
