There was a bit of laughter in TV Centre at this one. The interview was a pool interview, played out at a pre-arranged time. Very odd that Sky didn't pick it up.
I'm not sure the BBC does always get priority on interviews. There seem to be two scenarios - either Blair will do a round of interviews with all the political editors, or he'll just do one as a pool (with possibly a C4 news or Newsnight in addition). The pool playouts are subject to strict (broadcaster) rules about playout at a prearranged time - I know today's was 1720.00. As for who does the pool ones, it's part rota, part whoever can do it. I'd guess James Landale did it today because Nick Robinson was editing for the Six, Tom Bradby was editing for the 1830 and Adam Boulton had to keep going on Sky. So News24 had to do without its main political person for half an hour (after the vote, he was hardly on 24 for what seemed like an age).
I lost interest at about 1730 - did Sky get their own interview with Blair in the end?

But News 24 managed to get theirs out first. To be fair, the BBC always get first priority on political interviews, so no great shock. Was a bit embarrassing to watch Jeremy Thompson sitting there saying ''well, we're getting some titbits about what the PM's being say behind the scenes'' and in fact quoting stuff from the News 24 interview. Hardly 'behind the scenes' - a few years ago, when they had no viewers, it might've well as been!
