If anyone wants to go on strike about grampian tv been gone I bet that all north of scotland would and if not should. Mad i want grampian tv back. This new STV is rubbish and North tonight better stay as well.

My face is bovverd.

Please don't be a drama queen. I'm positive there are a lot of Northerners (sp?) who don't really care what the channel is called, as long as they can still watch the programmes they want.
The Grampian name is dead. GET OVER IT!!!

I can asure you that there are a lot of folk (us Northerners) that are very bitter about the whole thing. Come on mate give us a break!

hand on heart - no. Because i don't watch it for station name, I watch it for the content - the poor quality local news and reality shows like i'm a celebrity on a celebrity love island participating in an x factor battle. Honestly - would have been itv scotland eventually anyway!

As an Englishman (who just spent a very pleasant few days by Loch Lomond, in fantastic weather Very Happy ), I must say that I find the current "mix & match" between stv & itv continuity and promos to be very confusing.

One minute it's stv, the next it's itv.

I knew the reason why, but my sister (who isn't the "sharpest knife in the drawer") just thought they were promoting things on another channel. Rolling Eyes No doubt some of the resident population are equally confused.

I agree, now you have some idea what its' like for us poor sods who live heer and have to watch it all the time! If stv sorted that out and made all promos stv instead of itv that would help them achieve what they want - a recognisable brand for the new digital era.

I can't help but feel that "STV" will ultimately prove to be just a stepping stone to "ITV1 Scotland" (or whatever), so won't ever need to be "a recognisable brand for the new digital era".

By the time that Central and Westcountry got renamed by parent company Carlton, it coincided with the move towards "dual branding" idents, so the midlands and southwest never had JUST "Carlton" on-screen.

It seems odd that Carlton bothered changing the "regional" part of the name, at the same time that the idents were becoming specifically designed to start the process of phasing-out regional names altogether. Yet, they did. "Carlton" was the midlands' and southwest's ITV1 brand for less than five years (I think).

This proves that it doesn't necessarily have to be "years-and-years" between "major re-brands", so I wouldn't be surprised if "STV" ends up going the way of "Carlton" within relatively few years.

I dont now what you both have been watching but it is not STV!! The new channel is not promo-ing anything with the itv1 logo at all. It is all stv (only the bits in GMTV are itv1 promos)!

I do not think its confusing at all.....it is clearly stv (don't like it though) and not itv1. Although the sooner it becomes itv1 the better!!!

It's always STV up here. Confused

Perhaps you looked during GMTV (it's networked promos) or seen a flicker of a logo at the end?

Erm...what? Confused - ITV1 Scotland you support - which would mean a buyout of SMG by an english company based in London...yet SMG - A scottish company based in glasgow rebranding a station they own which still is operational from local headquarters in Aberdeen to its "patch" you dont? Thats a thinker

Well you said it "from Glasgow". I dont think SMG have any feeling for North of Scotland and are now running the Grampian (as was) part of the company now only for profits! If SMG were now bought over by itv plc it would make no difference at all now......we have NO identity here at all now.......it matters NOT a jot now!!

Well you do, the identity is STV.... or is the north of Scotland not part of Scotland any more?

Surely a Glasgow based corporation running a pan nationwide national television channel -minus border - can only be a good thing rathrr than a london based station - and the identity is STV. And i have family in aberdeen who all reffer to it as STV and although they as viewers were sad that grampian was ditched as a name, they recognise it was in theory ditched in all but name and merged with scottish a long time ago.If it wasn;t for smg barney i extremely doubt grampian would still exist anyway - not exactly a commercial powerhouse compared with other regions. It was inevitable.
