Not trying to cause any hassle. Just trying to explore the issue

But there isn't an issue to explore?

I just thought that a discussion about how such a show might work would cause interest.

I now know that is hasn’t. Apologies.

Just one more schedule...
Bookend the soaps with news.
1800-1830: Regional News
1830-1900: ITV evening news
1900-1930: Soap
1930-2000: News
2000-2030: Soap
2030-2100: News
More viewers would be brought in if the program was inbetween the soaps

Enough fantasy scheduling folks.

Shocked

Ex-analogue, maybe. But not ex-terrestrial.

Unless ITV is now no longer carried on Digital Terrestrial Television (i.e. Freeview)?!

Good Evening Britain sounds like Nationwide, which was successful in it's day. However from 4-6pm would be such a bad slot for it as a lot of it's potential audience are still at work or on their way home when it would be on. This is particularly an issue in London, both Thames and Carlton moved their local news to as late as they could for this reason
Night Thoughts and DE88 gave kudos

1. Evening starts at 6pm.
2. Why would they risk their excellent 5pm ratings by ousting The Chase from the slot?

Ultimately the chances of such a programme happening is next to nil.

Presumably, Ms. Garroway is after more publicity, she seems to either attract or encourage it - a Google search brings up some quite extraordinary results.

I've always liked Kate - although that probably says more about me than it does about her. Embarassed

But I have to agree that "Good Evening Britain" wouldn't be a good idea. Even if The Chase ended and ITV had trouble replacing it, there would always be the matter of the regional news... and many viewers wouldn't expect any less than 30 minutes.
