André Morgan did his first stint on LBC News since the rebrand this morning and it showed. Stumbling and mentioning the old station name numerous times. He was like this on the old station.

Weekends IMHO sound like LBC London News depending on the presenter on shift.

When they're live are they live throughout or is it a CBSN style Newswheel operation where they just loop a bulletin and update it as required?

While there is a wheel, LBC News also have guests usually on the phone or they do DTLs with Global journalists from across the country during live hours. There are also two ways with LBC correspondents in the studio.

The automated hours have a pre-record of the TOTH news bulletin presented by the duty newsreader which goes out on other Global stations, followed by an automated news bulletin pre-recorded by another journalist. INRIX update the travel bulletins overnight from a bureau in Scotland. The wheel remains every 20 minutes.

Just an additional note regarding the automated news bulletin which follows the headlines, the bulletin is updated at regular intervals throughout the night. This means that what you hear at 11PM won't be the same as what is heard at 1AM, and if a major story develops after going into automation, updates can be inserted, or they can go live if necessary.

I'd give André a little bit of a break. I know that after I've had a good bit of time away from my job (or certain aspects of it), it takes a little bit of time to get back into the groove. As for the weekends sounding like LBC London News, that probably shouldn't come as a surprise considering that most of the former London News presenters end up in the weekend slots.

The weather is done by whoever is reading the news on other Global stations - Mike Powell’s main job during his shift will have been Classic FM and Smooth news bulletins.

His delivery of the weather does show up some of the others

I've enjoyed what I've heard so far, but to be honest my biggest problem with it is remembering the exact combination of words to get my Google Assistant to play the right station.

Whatever I say it comes back with LBC London News - though am I right in thinking that all that differs is the travel and weather?

BBC Journalist and Radio 2 newsreader Mike Powell has been presenting weather this afternoon. I wonder if we could end up seeing him jump ship.

He's freelance I believe.

Yes. Only the travel and weather is different.

That makes sense. It would be nice to hear more of him though.

There are the usual twitter rumours of a death tonight (I won't bore you but it's there if you look, 99.9% rubbish), makes you wonder how LBC News will cope when such a story breaks in the middle of the night? Will they change to LBC itself who will run the story?

I think they'd share with LBC for the first couple of hours, before LBC starts welcoming comment, and LBC News would provide rolling coverage. Chances are though, if it was a death that is major enough to warrant sharing coverage, it would warrant being embargoed until the morning.
