Suzanne Virdee - BBC West Midlands

She has plenty of national potential. She even had a stint on Breakfast in 2005.

If we're going to play that game; Dani Sinha, BBC South and a short stint on BBC London.

Fine, play 'that game'.

Ranvir Singh - BBC North West. She'd be alright.

and let us not forget - Bob Warman, ITV Central for the nationals

No. BoWa is not past it now. He owns most of the current ITV Regional presenters.

Having seen her recent performance on Sky News, Dharshini David is surely another rising star who will find her way behind a newsdesk (again) sometime soon.

Does he keep them in his cellar?

Surprised no-one's mentioned Chris Ship, the senior political correspondent for ITV News who has proved he can do the newscaster job as well as the others, if not better. I think he'd make a great main presenter in the future.

Andrew Plant - BBC Points West. Very good newscaster but still looks like a little boy (sorry if you are reading this Mr Plant, take it as a compliment) but held his own on BBC Breakfast last week.

Yes, he's definitely taken to presenting like a duck to water. Isn't it strange how presenting seems like an innate skill? You've either got it or you've not. Take Geraint Vincent - he's been presenting for several years now (didn't he start in c.2006?) but I'd argue Chris Ship is at the same level already. It's a shame ITV don't use him on the national news a bit more frequently. He's got a lot of potential.

Following their performances of late (espec during the Haiti coverage), I have been particularly impressed by Kasia Madera and Christian Fraser on BBC World News.
