He deffo seems out of sorts ever since being on the Six O'Clock News.

His tone of voice and use of his eyes quite often fools me into thinking that I'm watching Newsround.

Time to go back to BBC4 or a serious news broadcast? George doesn't do fluff well, and the Six is now proto-Heat TV in major parts.

No, I'm being deadly serious.

Aligiah can't cope with fluff. And the Six is now mainly fluff.

I think he should go back to present World News or maybe try Newsnight?

At least he doesn't look randomly in different directions for no reason like Huw Edwards. Huw even for some reason when he says 'goodnight from the Ten O'Clock news team' looks in a certain direction as if to check what bulletin he's actually presenting!

I think he's fine - the programme's improved tremendously since he's done it on his bill.

I agree as well, he seems a lot more relaxed doing it on his own.

But he got an OBE in the New Year's Honours List so he must be absolutely brilliant.

I don't think he looks comfortable doing it.

The man clearly has no charm or charisma, making him an ideal candidate for BBC World. Or teaching youngsters how to drive.

Also - if you are starting a thread about a presenter, probably worth at least spelling his name right...

It is George Alagiah.

A mate of mine is a driving instructor and he is very charismatic. True story.

Agree about George, he just doesn't suit "The Six" (ugh, I hate it being referred to as that)... but then again who would? I'm not a huge fan of BBC News on the whole, but this show really is the worst of a bad bunch. I hope this apparent new look ushers in an era of proper hard news again, I'm bored of fluff. Five can handle that very well already thank you.

Agreed, Phil.

However, if Aligiah goes onto Strictly Come Dancing, will he end up being rammed by his instructor, just like the vapid Kaplinsky?

The "Six" is a truly dire programme. However, at least Kaplinsky's not on it anymore.

I don't know about fluff, but he certainly doesn't do covering up problems very well.

Everything fell to pieces on last night's programme, with the wrong reports coming up, then no reports at all.

He was waving his arms about and looking decidedly angry on screen.

I fancy that when a report did finally start, somebody in the back room got an unpleasant few words over the talkback.
