The opening titles for the BBC coverage have been posted on the BBC Editors Blog.

Extremely pedantic I know but they've got the Prime Ministers in the wrong order, Atlee should be after Churchill as Churchill only won the general election in 1951, after Atlee's term

Are there usually any regional opt-outs during the election night shows on both the BBC and ITV? I'm sure they'll probably be one in the first hour or two which will basically be the late news, but do they continue beyond that?

In the last election, there were no opt-outs on the Beeb during the night, apart from the one after the news at 10.30, but at regular intervals the regions overlaid local headlines and results on the screen, which may well be the case again this year. Then there's a half-hour opt-out at 9am.

Wonder if the BBC regions will have their regular breakfast bulletins too.

Yes, and there will be regional graphics opts too.

sstripling: agreed - just a shame so many pillocks work in television today...

Former ITN political editor Michael Brunson makes a surprise appearance reporting on tonight's News at Ten. Nice to see him back on ITV after so many years - he brings a real air of authority.

"Michael Brunson, News at Ten, Downing Street"...

I know, I was thinking earlier what ITV's coverage would be like if they had kept the NAT branding - i thought their US election was great!

Yeah I agree ( again) - it's been a really good bulletin tonight.

Also made me laugh that he signed of "Michael Brunson , News at Ten" Laughing - doesn't he know your not allowed to do that anymore!

Edit:Beat me to it!

Another classic on Newsnight - some man was pulling faces and saluting behind Michael Crick and Jeremy, as always has a classic line - "there's some stupid imbecile pulling funny faces behind you" Laughing

Paxman said "I am going to have to interrupt you because there is some imbecile behind you pulling funny faces and doing funny walks".

Did he really have to interrupt him? I don't see why.
