oo-err missus...

The election studio is indeed TC1. For the rehearsals, the outside sources (obviously) aren't all available, so they've been going to N9 and the business unit camera, where people have been bluffing their way through declarations and interviews.

(Yesterday I watched a man pretending to be Jeremy Paxman interviewing a man pretending to be Nick Griffin. Most odd.)

I didn't select that frame on purpose to excite Sian's fans. Embarassed

She just happened to be demonstrating the touch-screen capability of the mahoosive plasma screen! Wink

I seem to remember in previous years Jeremy Vine has been at the ITN VR studios (as they had better facilities?) - but it would appear the VR stuff is being done within the TC1 set this year.

Does that mean the BBC have upgraded their capabilities with VR?

(thinking about it, isn't TC0 VR capable, so I don't know what the advantages of using ITN were...)

Where exactly is the set of the election in the BBC TV Centre?

Studio 1 I think. The studio used for Strictly Come Dancing. It's the biggest studio at TVC. Wink

It's a wonder the BBC haven't found a way yet to incorporate dance into their election night show.

I think that was for previous smaller elections, where the main programme was coming from N9 or Millbank.

The last general election in 2005 had Peter Snow in a big VR area within TC1, like this year, although that time it was up on a balcony.

EDIT: Should add, that set does look very good indeed, as expected from the BBC on election night.

I've finally seen the promo for ITV's election night programme, and I have to say the virtual studio looks a bit cheap - reminds me a bit of Sky's studio from the 2001 election. It's only a brief glimpse, though - so I guess it might look better on the night.

I've been quite impressed with ITV's election sets in years gone by - and really liked what they did in 2005. So it'll be a shame if this one isn't up to scratch.

They did that in 2005, too.

Jeremy Vine's big green screen area is off to the right, and Jeremy Paxman's interview desk is on the balcony, sort of behind this shot.

Could be interesting in the next few minutes if the Wales and/or Scotland debate overruns and misses the start of the news.

EDIT: Neither did.
