Looks great to me - elements of it remind me of the 1992 and 1997 sets. I see that a giant version of the virtual newsroom features on some of the screens, too.

Jeremy said that it'll be officially unveiled on Breakfast tomorrow.

Points of View is on iPlayer now, if anyone wants to take a closer look.

Does that mean that breakfast will be in there from tomorrow?

Dear god that show is full of idiots isn't it. How very dare the BBC cover something like an election on the main channels when they have a 0 viewers parliament channel it could be on instead. urgh.

Think they may have been using the "spare" news studio (formerly home of BBC World, and the launch studio of News 24) for some tests (presumably simulating OBs?). There seemed to be a shot of that in one of the screens (knocked back to avoid it looking too huge!)

Suspect it will be more of a sneak peak - why would they move the show in there tomorrow?

Well it certainly is big! Hope it doesn't look to messy on the night though.

The BBC tend to do 'slick' rather than 'messy' for election nights. You only have to see their set and general broadcast production of the third debate to see their commitment to quite a high standard.

Indeed: although the muppet who voiced that comment on POV will probably be watching late night repeats of Judge Judy or Jeremy Vile while the election results are coming through anyway, so his opinion doesn't matter! Laughing

By saying "official launch" I got the impression that they would be using it.

It seems a shame to only use such a fab set for 12+ hours over Thurs/Friday if there are elements which can be used for other BBC News programmes during a week - which will be dominated by pre-election/post-election coverage anyway.

Wouldn't it also ease the pressure on TC7 set changes/crew usage if some were being used in TC1 for actual broadcasts/tests etc?

I'd be surprised if the whole of Breakfast moved into there from 0600-0915 Mon-Thursday.

I wouldn't be surprised, though, to see VR graphics sequences come out of there for all the main bulletins between now and the Election.

Be interesting to see if they are doing the full Ten O'Clock News from there Mon-Wed as the BBC Studios press release suggests, or whether it will be just used for VR stuff.

Where exactly is the set of the election in the BBC TV Centre?

Studio 1 I think. The studio used for Strictly Come Dancing. It's the biggest studio at TVC. Wink

The large square block shown to the left of the 'donut' on most pictures of TVC - the part with the 'BBC Television Centre' lettering.
