Seeing as we know the BBC will be going election-mad until 2pm, does anybody knows what going to happen in the schedules ITV-wise on May 7? AIUI they'll be having GMTV take over as normal at 6am but the programme will feature ITV News prominently. Do ITN take over from 9:25am and if so, when until?

According to RadioTimes , ITV1 will revert to their normal schedule from 10:30 with This Morning, Loose Women, normal 30 minute News then 60 Minute Makeover.

If we do end up with a hung parliament, then I'd imagine plenty will be happening throughout the afternoon on Friday 7th May, so ITV may be forced to change their schedule to suit.

Does anyone know when BBC National News will be moving into the election studio?

Week of the election, isn't it? I read somewhere that this would happen from May 3 and that it was just going to be the Ten O'Clock News. Correct me if I'm wrong anybody...

I'm wondering whether or not ITV will be tempted to do the same with their News at Ten. Incidentally, their election night coverage will begin at 9:55pm instead of 10pm - I think it's been the case in recent years that the BBC have started at that time and ITV waited until 10pm. Will be interesting to see if ratings are one-sided or fairly even.

"Election 2010" airs in The Jeremy Kyle Show slot on the Friday morning, with Katie Derham in the studio, and James Mates in Downing Street.

Will BBC HD be sticking with the full election programme, or will it show some and then cut off?

Also worth noting that, according to the Radio Times website, the afternoon CBBC slot on Friday 7th May has been moved to BBC Two, with the usual BBC Two fayre (Cash in the Attic, Flog It etc) showing on BBC One.

Presumably this is to allow BBC One to drop all of this if they need to roll with news throughout the afternoon.

ITV pretty foolish not to at least have an extended lunchtime bulletin. Keeping This Morning is understandable as that can break into the news and I think by then there will be an appetite for a less formal look at the unfolding events, but I'd definitely then go back to the election show either 12.30-2pm or 1.30-3pm,

BTW, C4 will have an hour long lunchtime bulletin at Noon pm the Friday. Also liking the look of their alternative coverage - the ad is brilliant, but it's a shame it only runs till 1am.

Given the length of the BBC's Election Night programme, what are the chances of seeing a closing sequence the length of that seen in 2005?

Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but looking back to election coverage of the past, I found this pretty interesting:

Thought people might be interested in this. The first 5 hours of the BBC's coverage of the 2005 General Election are available on the C-SPAN website http://www.c-spanvideo.org/program/186422-1

I'm not sure that a hung parliament will result in more happening on Friday afternoon.

If there's a clear winner there'll be the usual trips to Buck House and announcements of the cabinet. If it's hung there'll be lots of discussions going on out of view. A hung parliament will mean that there'll be a lot more going on on Saturday and Sunday though

I think the biggest reason that Election shows might run later is that a large number of councils are not paying for overnight counts, and will thus declare much later than previously. This means that we won't know the results in some seats until a lot lather than in previous General Elections.

I think in the end though that's turned out not to be the case and something like just 30 will be counting the next day - though of course with votes so close they will be crucial as well.
