One difference I noticed today between BBC News and ITV News is that the latter knows the plural of referendum. Wink

can you explan that a bt better?

The word "referenda" (as opposed to "referendums") was used in Tom Bradby's report earlier today.

oh ok, I knew what was meant by the plural of referendum, but just didn't know where it had been used.

Edit: Just incase there's any confusion (cough* Chie *cough) by "I didn't know where it had been used" I meant what report/ who it had been used by.

It's a shame that BBC News don't seem to know it!

Actually both "referenda" and "referedums" are deemend acceptable by the Oxford English Dictionary. But that's not the point. Laughing

It doesn't look like any of the main five channels will be taking up Sky News' offer of showing the debate live, instead it'll be on BBC Two after Newsnight.

the billings have it as a 1 hour 'Prime Ministerial Debates: a Newsnight Special', followed by the debate itself at 23:30. Spoilers! Smile

It appears that the ITV debate will be on the News Channel tomorrow at 23.30, as well as some BBC Parliament repeats.

I may have missed the reason why BBC Two are showing the Sky debate, but not the ITV one. Is it the simple reason that it's already been on a terrestrial channel?

Why does that listing say the debate is on BBC Two Wales only ?

The schedules on the /programmes site tend to appear around 7 days ahead of time - for some reason, the Welsh listings look like they've got ahead of themselves. It'll probably have ironed itself out by this time tomorrow.

Sky just showed Nick Clegg arriving (live) at an Asda in Oldham - Newsnight's Michael Crick was having a chat with him on the way in, and let slip that David Cameron hasn't yet agreed to a one-on-one with Paxman.

Adam Boulton has apologised for his remark about Alistair Stewart needing to 'step up' for the debates,
Quote:
I have spoken to my friend Alistair Stewart who is chairing tomorrow's debate and I know that he agrees with me.
(Incidentally I would like to apologise to Alistair. When I was quoted saying he had had to "step up" into the role of ITV moderator, I meant no slight on a superlative professional, I was just lamenting the disgraceful way ITV suits have downgraded news and current affairs on their channel in recent decades.)

It will be a joint one between ITV, BBC and Sky for the first time

Quote:
For the first time, Sky News has joined forces with ITV News and the BBC to commission a major exit poll which will give the first clue towards the outcome when it is released at 2200.
