Right after Breakfast, Huw Edwards with a News Special on BBC One and the News Channel.

It went straight to Huw as well - on NC, it was done as a handover from Carrie and Simon; on BBC One, an ident and then Huw appeared. No special titles, no title sequence at all.

It's a shame they don't have any "BBC News Special" titles any more like they did during the ivory/China red era.

Incredible how this News Special is running until the One, that'll mean we'll have had 'News' on BBC One since 4.25am this morning, a tad ridiculous really. 9 hours and 35mins Wink

I guess it's open ended at the moment, as events will change, Traffic between Windsor and SW1`being a rather crucial element. If the PM has spoken and opposition leaders replied by midday, programmes on BBC ONE will resume.

........... forget the traffic, HMQ is travelling to and from Windsor by Helicopter (BBC News)

It all seems a little rediculous following his car from a helicopter. Do the news channels seriously think people are interested in an aerial shot of a car?

It's somewhat more interesting than watching a presenter in-vision for the duration of the journey...

It's hardly a long journey, less than a mile and a couple of minutes in duration

I don't really get the point of having helicopter shots of the journey, it adds nothing especially as most of it was obscured by trees or buildings. Even though it's pooled and being shared between the UK broadcasters and agencies, it must be costing a bit for very little added value on screen (especially as when it came to the journey from the palace to Downing Street it was off-lock!)

If I was Gordon Brown, I would come out of No. 10 for a news conference right now, to annoy Cameron. What would happen on Sky and the Beeb, who would they stay with?

Love the way Joey Jones from Sky just appeared on the BBC News Channel. We're they taking Sky's shot of the Cameron speech then?

Probably a Sky pool feed that the BBC didn't switch away from quickly enough.
Earlier, Adam Boulton got his cameraman to show how Downing Street didn't have many limos in it - and the camera swung around to show Huw Edwards interviewing Nick Robinson.

The sound problems in GoBro's speech were very distracting. And didn't he have two lapel mics on?
