Judging from that interview, Discovery's involvement seems pretty nailed on.

Pure speculation on my part, but would assume that the bulk of what Discovery are bringing to this party will be the Freeview slot (quest+1?) and satellite transponder space, playout, ready to go streaming technologies via dplay (whether it be presented desperate, or not) and Discovery's ad sales team.

That's several millions of pounds in investment right there, before opening your chequebook.

I like how an interview with the figurehead of a new channel aimed at "British people who feel underserved and unheard by their media” is interviewed from his second (or third) home, in France.

544x576 SD should be enough for this channel. Quest only went HD on Freeview after Discovery acquired EFL highlights.

I think France is clearly his main base these days.

I wouldn’t be surprised if many of his shows are broadcast from his French home in front of a green screen, although I’d expect a better effort than the zoom attempt for Spectator TV.

And to be honest if they just had him in front of a greenscreen doing DTL interviews it isn’t going to look any worse than most of the output on CNN.

Still don’t know why the BBC are including him in their US Presidential election coverage. Especially as he seems to be doing a farewell tour where he throws shade at the BBC. Whilst he may not be bad mouthing them it still looks like an opportunity to kick them in the teeth.

LBC has its own live bulletins twice an hour and has a few correspondents contributing to its shows. When a big story breaks its not just a producer and broadcast assistant backing up the presenter, there is some production effort. I've never heard Toby Tarrant cross over Radio Xs political correspondent, but over on LBC James O'Brien does.

This is where Global were smart with the LBC News launch - they are getting extra value out of the journos in the regions who they have to employ to fulfil the licence conditions for the music stations.

In turn, the regional journos get a more stimulating workload than just the 60-second hourly bulletins - the chance to get out and about reporting for LBC and LBC News.

And Global gets a ready-made talent pipeline for jobs at Leicester Square.

It's all win-win-win.

On the contrary, I think he’s been very supportive of the BBC.

If it wasn't for Discovery being one of the backers of this set-up and Andrew Neil coming on board, Arise News would have sprung to mind.

I don't share TheSebastian's enthusiasm for the channel catching up with Sky News at least on a linear level. It may make some headway with the target audience online with clips on social media where those who are ardent pro-Brexit and anti-mask have thrived.

However despite who they're targeting, it'll be interesting to see if GB News can make the talkRADIO editorial style of news into the mainstream as competition for Sky News and the NC or if it'll be another RT, where it has a niche audience of anti-establishment and conspiracy theorist viewers who take in the editorial that suits the Russian Government perspective.

If former BBC/ITV regional reporter Anna Brees gets a gig on GB (she's been a guest on RT on occasion), who has rebranded herself as giving herself a voice to those the supposed MSM don't give one too, such as conspiracy theorists (especially anti maskers) and alleged victims of child abuse by celebs or in homes in the 60s/70s/80s, we may get an idea of where they're going. The journalist has also been given a pasting on Private Eye.

So long as a certain youtuber whom I shall henceforth refer to as Voldemort doesn't get a slot then GB News are in with a shout.

Why even bring him up, you’re obsessed

I’m sure you could shoe horn a mention in every thread, maybe he could get a cameo on Corrie, or do an act on BGT or be really creative and design an ITV ident

It was a joke for God’s sake!

I think this might be down to his contract with the BBC, where he already signed up to cover the US Presidential election, and if they kicked him off it, it might be breach of contract, so Andrew is simply working out his contract.
