I realise that there is still over a week left before these events, but I thought that people may be interested to hear what the channels had announced in terms of coverage, and also what we, as the viewers, would like to see. If anyone else knows any details about how the news channels are planning to cover these events, please post here.

Olympics 2012 host city announced
BBC One - Wednesday 6th July : 12:15-13:00
with Sue Barker and Dermot Murnaghan in Singapore, Sian Williams in Trafalgar Square, Emily Maitlis in Stratford and Jon Sopel in Paris.

G8 conference and build up
Channel 4: Jon Snow presents from Uganda and then flies back to Gleneagles
BBC News (week beginning 4th July) : Natasha Kaplinsky presents Breakfast from Kenya. On the Six O'Clock News, George Alagiah will present from Gleneagles, and has filmed special reports from his former home countries Ghana and South Africa.

Why have they sent Emiliy Maitlis to Stratford? What's that got to do with the Olympics? Also how come no-one is in New York?
I suppose that if Dermot is away in Singapore, Natasha away in Kenya, Sian in Trafalgar Square then Breakfast will be with Bill and Kate Silverton (unless Sian does Breakfast then goes off up to Trafalgar Square).
With the Africa Week, is Natasha Kaplinsky actually presenting from Kenya or is she just doing special reports?

It's where the games will be based if London wins the right to host them.

Or maybe Mishal Hussain will do Breakfast.

I imagine a correspondant will be ready, and waiting in New York - they have just decided not to send a big name anchor there.

Sky will have Kay Burley in Singapore, and Jeremey Thompson anchoring from Gleneagles. Kay's already been around all the candidate cities to film a report about each one.

Sky and BBC are having live telecasts of the meeting? I am so excited all these famous faces coming to Singapore!

I'd imagine that they'd just use Katya Adler (Madrid Correspondent). Similar situation for NY and Moscow, too, I'd have thought.

yes, but they know themselves that the battle is only between Paris and London, as it had been implied to a great extent in the IOC report, and therefore it would be a pointless task to travel there.
