They've just had the newspaper review on N24 and the guest brought up a piece from The Sun about the Guy Kewney story with Chris Eakin saying "we can take it on the chin" and then giving us an overview of the story. "It was all very embarrassing but quite amusing"

The BBC guest cockup is highly amusing isn't it.
I wonder how the interview went afterwards :
"Hello, Mr Goma, sorry for any delay in seeing you."
"Yes. So am I through here to the second interview already?"
"Second interview ?"
"Yes, I didn't expect the first to be televised but it made a change."
- confused silence -

I've just popped something about the face-saving interview News24 attempted this morning here. It's almost as bad.

Guy Coma has just appeared on the ITV lunchtime news where they played the whole interview first and then Alastair Stewart thought it was necessary to pull his leg and claim that he was better at ad-libbing than the BBC News 24 presenter!

Ouch!

I know! If only ITN would hire him, he'd be a great asset to the current ITV News Channel... as some sort of pre.a.-==se;;'##

The clip has just been played on Radio 1 as well on JK & Joel in for Scott Mills

The point they made was, after the rambled first answer, why did the presenter keep asking him questions!

Didn't Tania Beckett have a wrong guest incident on Breakfast News a few years ago?

If she did i think that person was meant to be interviewed on the programme a little later on, this happens quite a bit, but as far as i know this is the first case of a complete stranger being rushed into the hotseat.

"Good Morning......"

"I'm very surprised to see..., this verdict to come on me because I was not expecting that. When I came they told me something else and I'm coming, you you've got an interview, so its a big surprise anyway"

"A big surprise?"

"Exactly"

You're not kiding! The difference with Tanya Beckett was that she didn't continue to conduct the interview!

News 24 made a similar mistake sometime last year I think, when there were two guests at Westminster for different topics, one seated at the newsroom DTL position, the other in the chromakey DTL position. They cut to the wrong one, so the presenter introduces the guest and asks the first question, and the guest says "I'm sorry I'm not <name>".

Well the difference was that Tanya Beckett's guest said "I'm not Bob Blah Blah", whereas this Guy said "Good evening" and then proceeded to talk in a barely recognisable accent!

And of course Tanya guest was actually a guest and not someone who was in the building for somethign else.

There's a clip that turns up on outtake programmes of 2 guests in a remote studio changing over when they hear the introduction and realise that the wrong person is sitting there
