In stark contrast to our national channels, they have gone all out on this. They had a couple of short updates while the football was still on, then went on for two hours at about midnight.
They then scrapped the usual children's programming this morning from about 7.00am and have been rolling since. The extra edition is just ending now.
Tagesschau airing a special programme, with Jan Hofer presenting, covering Angela Merkel's speech.

BBC One are to pull away from coverage at 9:15 for Saturday Kitchen, very poor decision with that.
A tricky transition from news to #saturdaykitchen today after the appalling events in Paris, but we will be on air at 9.15 with comfort food

Comfort food?! I wouldn't have bothered tweeting at all.

More to do with having one single news outlet communicating the news.
There have regularly been BBC news simulcasts between the domestic news channel and BBC World News.
This is no different, It just so happens that between 06:00 and 10:00 the News Channel comes from Manchester, broadcasting as Breakfast.
I'm pretty sure that when the Charlie Hebdo attacks took place Breakfast was on both channels, just as this morning, broadcasting as a BBC News Special.
World still simulcasting with Brakfast and said good morning to the world viewers. Never seen World simulcasting any domestic programmes before - perhaps it has something to do with the cuts?

Very clunky junction on BBC One pulling out of the Breakfast special to Saturday Kitchen. Naga Munchetty was cut off mid-sentence after the pause in which the break from BBC One was meant to happen.
Charlie Stayt fluffed his lines earlier. Most of the Breakfast special relied on repeated interviews through the morning and the same footage.
People cooking now on BBC One. Oh well.
Not a slick operation.
