It seems a little excessive the numbers of reporters and presenters over in Paris at the moment, surely these times of budget cuts would mean broadcasters and producers coordinating to send across less correspondents especially BBC News.

Does anyone know how many presenters and reporters are in Paris from BBC News, Sky News, ITV News, Channel 4 News etc. etc... ?

From what I've seen, BBC News have Ben Brown, Tim Wilcox and Huw Edwards (nationals) on presenting duties. Their usual France/Paris correspondents Lucy Williamson and Hugh Schofield were already out there. They've also been joined by their Europe Editor Katya Adler and Damian Gramaticas.

And Louise Minchin on Breakfast duties

Another to add, Gordon Corera has also filed a report from Paris too.

Also Gavin Hewitt.

Sally is both presenting and covering the sports news today - first time I've seen them combine the role.

You have to remember that the BBC has to serve their television and radio services. That is always going to require more journalists than the other channels given that while the TV channels may merge, there remain BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 5 Live and the BBC World Service all requiring separate inputs.

For all of that you need reporters who can get out and actually gather news, while you also need reporters who can then collate the various news stories and relay them back to presenters on live TV and radio broadcasts.

For a big story like this that will always require a large number of people.

For the record so far I've seen/heard on the BBC:

Presenters: Huw Edwards, Ben Brown, Tim Wilcox, Louise Minchin

Reporters:
Resident in Paris - Lucy Williamson, Hugh Schofield, David Chazan
Correspondents transferred - Katya Adler, Chris Morris, Damian Grammaticus, Gavin Lee (all from Brussels); Anna Holligan (from The Hague); Gavin Hewett, Gordon Corera and Matthew Price (from London) and Graham Satchell (from BBC Breakfast).

As mentioned in the Presenters & Rotas thread, there will probably be some rotation of staff after a number of days.

Adding another one to the BBC list, Ben James from the World Service is there for Outside Source.

Interesting side panel graphic being used on BBC News at the moment, with a (shock horror) drop shadow of all things.

The main French channels are currently showing special programming around the minute silence.

Don't know if this is the right place to mention it, but all of the MTV channels have changed their DOG to feature an MTV logo based on the French flag. They now just have 'MTV' on its own - no 'Music', 'Dance, 'Hits' etc. underneath - and it's shifted to the left so it doesn't align with the current graphics.

MTV HD is the only channel that still has 'HD' underneath the main logo, but because the main logo has moved so much there's a big gap.

VH1 are already using Christmas graphics.

Eurosport's pan network coverage at 1100 was interesting, in that they had a series of cuts to remembrance activities at sporting fixtures they covered over their channels this weekend, including those for which they do not hold rights in the UK.

Heavy use of GMB's reporters including Susanna Reid on This Morning, however Mark Austin anchored the minutes silence coverage.
