CNNs Brian Stelter is reporting Murdoch just announced the "news" channel is getting new digs. This is a big departure from the current Fox News look and the dark cave like environs it inhabits.

The announcement was made infront of a diverse crowd in the new groundfloor studio. Hope the ladies made it out ok.

Will the graphics get a refresh? How long has the current set been in use?

Looking at the mock-up, the graphics department isnt getting sacked. It seems like the channel is moving from its dingy basement newsroom to some upper floors of the 21 Century building. I guess the new newsroom is his way of offering an olive leaf to the disgruntled grumbling embarrassed staff. It looks nice to be honest. Too bad the content will still be pants.

I really couldn't care less about the changes when the real changes need to be at management and editorial level.

I would be very surprised if the graphics weren't refreshed. I'd imagine the old graphic look is simply in the mock to avoid giving away too much detail to competitors. The new look seems slightly inspired by the direction of Sky News (soft whites and greys). Perhaps I'm reading too much into it, but I think this could be a hint that old Rupert is relenting - under huge pressure - and allowing the channel to evolve. Of course, too little, too late.

This could also just be more of the 'plan B' to the original plan, which was to move into a gigantic and expensive new building at the WTC. If they're going to stay in the same building on 6th Ave, it's probably due for a sprucing up anyway.

As for the graphics, well, who knows what they'll look like by then. Or even what programming will be like. But FNC has shifted to a more muted and consistent graphic style in the last year on most shows. The L3 is a white box with show-specific graphics and guest names beneath. The bug no longer spins constantly and remains pretty much static. Nothing great by any means, but it's rather restrained compared to what FNC is typically known for.

When and if they do get a new workspace. I'll watch Fox......with the volume muted and only for a few minutes. Their coverage this week of the scandals.....has been "sommat else"! Some have been calling it the state run media channel. Lol.

All very nice but they don't do that much hard news anyway, so who cares - unless this is an indication that they are putting more emphasis on news

And as long as propaganda like The Five, Fox and Friends, Tucker Carlson, Hannity are on air, nobody should give the channel any credit for anything it does. It's a total disgrace.

Apparently there hasn't been any major renovation for two decades (basically since they moved in).

Also the graphics featured in mocks are not really a good barometer of the future. They need something interesting to put on the screen and will take what fits. I imagine the graphic style is the least of the designers worries unless they go full screens everywhere.

So there is literally a right wing to the news desk.

I wouldn't go that far. To be fair, their "news" shows (Shep Smith, Special Report, Chris Wallace, etc.) have all dedicated the proper amount of airtime to the story and have dealt it with the gravity it deserves. But the opinion and panel shows definitely leave a lot desired. They seem to spend about two to three minutes talking about it off the top, dismiss it as a "fake scandal," and move on to almost anything else. Chris Wallace looked shocked the other day when Jesse Watters claimed that this wasn't a real scandal just because nobody has died and there isn't any sex involved.
