NBC CBS AND ABC all lead with the OREILLY ouster at the top of the newscasts right now!. LOL

BBC 5Live had the story in their 11pm bulletin last night. It must have been lost on 99.99% of their listeners!!

I think it's probably lost on a majority of media consumers in the U.S. too. Journalists have a bias to overdo it on what would otherwise be considered trade news in any other industry. CNN seems to love dragging Brian Stelter on at every hour of the day to overanalyze a story like this and for him to pontificate about how heroic all journalists are right now. But let's not forget that he's never been a journalist/blogger doing anything more than covering media, and it's not like CNN is all that interested in covering anything about themselves too critically (like the Lewandowski hiring), as is true for any other network covering themselves. People in glass houses...

Don't get me wrong – it's definitely a story worth covering, and one of importance given O'Reilly's long, prominent run in conservative media, his very close relationship with the orange man in the bad suit who's now our president, and perhaps also whatever statement this is making about sexual harassment. But most people probably don't care about O'Reilly losing his job all that much.

And it isn't just that it's a Fox News thing. The Bush document scandal that took out Dan Rather in the mid-2000s (which, by way of it undermining a hit piece against a GOP President, has the opposite ideological loading to this story) would presumably also have been big news on the ABC and NBC bulletins, and presumably both ABC and CBS went hard on the Brian Williams scandal two years ago.

When one broadcaster's big name anchor is engulfed in a scandal bad enough to induce a resignation, it's only natural that their rivals might seek to gain capital out of it by way of going big on the story in their own news coverage. Whether it's right or not is another matter altogether, but surprising it surely is not.

Fox News is the Cosby of cable news. What makes this a big story IMO is combined with the Ailes ouster and other men that have resigned or been fired and multiple lawsuits, shows the true ingrained culture of the network that claims to be the "All-American' clean and moral voice of the country. Or at least thats the image they wish to project and its anything but with all its flag-wrapped programming and flag waving hosts. Of course all news orgs have skellies and misteps in their closets....to some degree, but the hypocrisy of Fox makes it IMO more disgusting.

The Daily Mail online has the first pics of O'Reilly since the firing.

This place is a mess. Many names have been thrown out: Steve Doocy, Jon Scott, Chris Wallace, and one of their current co-presidents Bill Shine among others.

I didn't realise that Doocy is out as he's so up the Republican backside.
