One thing I've noticed is that Reporting Scotland is still going out at 6.30pm, but on BBC2. And they still have another bulletin at 7.15pm.

Yes a reason for either the football to be shown on BBC TWO or for the BBC to provide digital platforms for every region on BBC TWO. Then moving the news around the schedules and showing truncated programmes could be avoided!

Even though they can't show regional news on BBC2, there is no reason why the Six o'clock News couldn't be on BBC2 and then the regional news on in full at 7pm, with the national summary either at the end as usual or even leading into it.

Are BBC News 24 showing the truncated 7pm bulletins or not?

Good idea Brekkie Boy, I hadn't thought of that. That would be an improvement to the situation at the moment.

They can show regional news on BBC 2 - as was demonstrated by Wimbledon last year - just not on digital platforms. Since the BBC's national news should rightly be given prominence on the network, surely the news should be in full at 7 pm, and regional news on BBC 2 at 6.30.

They weren't last night.

Is it really necessary for MOTD to start at 19.30 with 30 minutes of build up to an 8pm kickoff?

If we had a truncated national bulletin at 7pm followed by a truncated regional one between approx 7.25 and 7.45, wouldn't that be a better situation? After at MOTD had only 15-20 minutes of preamble for the two matches earlier today.

Depends on the material MOTD have prepared. They may have VT and studio discussion designed to fill half an hour before the game starts.

That's only because of what is scheduled - if it was a 7.45pm start they'd work to that schedule!

MOTD's studio discussions seem to go on longer than the bloody matches actually!
