Flipper or Ticker?

Well I'm sure you'd just do something like this in place of long text...
...that doesn't quite fit onto one line.

When I first saw a flipper, I wasn't too keen on it, but I think that it's grown on me.

I don't agree with the comment that it's less distracting - a ticker is constantly moving, but a flipper is still, then suddenly it moves.

Largely because I'd imagine if you're trying to put the latest information on the screen, you'd want to get it up as quick as possible, not having to worry about the length of the flipper/ticker pieces you're writing and having to edit it to the right size. In that breaking news environment, you just want to get the news on screen quickly, rather than having to worry about the format...

You have a point here. However surely its just like writing text for breaking news astons... "4 People injured in blast in London" or whatever.Isnt it?
