I'm getting fed up of hearing people complaining about the content.

Maybe. Pretty poor editorial judgement to have the story about the driver before the real story of the day - Northern Rock!

Why because everyone else is leading with it? Its like when any new news programme has a new look, new presenter, something high profile they will lead with something different.

You make it sound like everybody is interested in the same stories. Yes, the Northern Rock story is important, but it's not as if it wasn't covered at all. Different people have different priorities in what they want to watch - which is the whole point of the show.

I don't think the content is the issue - just the fact that the editors think the content can be deemed as a news programme.

What the HELL is THAT!

1) Pink should be banned from the news 2) The sofa looks like something out of a women's hairdressers 3) Cushions should be banned from the news 4) What's with the spinster sat at her sewing machine?

The set reminds me of Strictly Come Dancing: It takes Two.

Not a fan I guess then Moz Laughing

I'm still unsure on it to be honest. It does look nice on TV, but it just screams ITV Regional News and The Paul O' Grady Show, to me anyway. The old set was much much MUCH!! better.

I wonder what the rating's were like...

It's news for girls isn't it. Which is deeply patronising to intelligent women.

Perhaps there should be a greater differention in the bulletins, the 5pm being a faster paced...more stories one, and the 7pm with fewer stories, more guests? Seems pointless with 2 bulletins so similar so close together, yet the always plug the 7pm on the earlier one, yet the agenda is scarecely different enough for people to tune into both.

I think they'd have been better off with just a 15-minute bulletin at 5.15pm - which I think is more likely to capture the Neighbours audience too than this 30 minute effort.

And then they should have kept a 30-minute bulletin at lunchtime.

What were the updates like - did they keep the music bed throughout, or just open with it and then move on? It's the downscaling of these updates which is the biggest disappointment from Five News over the last few years - I think they only have them at 8pm, 9pm and 10pm now - compared to every hour from around 6am through to midnight at launch.

Also, as much as I hate Natasha Kaplinsky, I do think she seemed far more suited to this than she ever did the Six o'clock News - and once they get the content sorted out it should make her a more respectable newsreader before she inevitably moves on elsewhere and Kate Silverton takes her place.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kate was their first choice for this relaunch, actually. Hasn't she said in a recent interview how she recently turned down a big money deal elsewhere so she could stay with the BBC?

I think that says a lot about her.

Funny thing is though, when she used to do Live at 5 with JT, she used to be good. They were a fantastic pairing. They're now both 'live at 5' from the Sky Centre, just on different channels now.
