The programme finished early didn't it? How dare they call it Five News , that is false advertising.

They had two important stories.

Northern Rock and the Terrorist Plot.

(And no - I do not count Bedroom TV, the Diana Inquest, a speeding Driver and Macca and Heather as newsworthy.)

Ridiculous. This is not a career move for Natasha, its a move backwards. Next - she'll be presenting Plymouth Tonight.

As much as im tempted to slate it because its Five and so it should be crap, im not going to. I think overall, it wasent bad, it fitted well for 5pm, the stories ran well with a mix of actual news and human interest stories. A nice, relaxed approach that i think will work as a lead into Neighbours and Home and Away, similar sort of approach in target.

I mean it was never said it was going to be hard hitting, if you want that go to BBC News, the new five news is taking a more relaxed approach and i for one am happy. Although shame it still finishes early.

didn't she do well! Rolling Eyes

No seriously, it was really rather good, like the straps and the studio is much better, really rather good - desk is quite quirky.

Content wise it wasn't really up to much, but then we don't watch five news generally to be well informed. After reading the Indie throughout the day by the time 5 comes I'm hankering for a bitta tittletattle. So it suits me down to the ground.

Heres the close, interestingly you can still see the camera at the very edges of the image, the endcap doesn't fully fill the frame.

Sky produces the five bulletins. That might explain the tablet she is holding.

I never actually got around to watching it but what I've made of it so far is that its very much like an informative segment of a daytime TV program rather than the news. I'm all for change in the news and having news adapted into other formats but I'm not too sure about this. What you lot have wrote sounds like its now The Natasha Kaplinsky Show.

It will be interesting to see what happens when she has a day off Laughing

The main problem was there were only 3 or 4 news stories. The top story might have been worthy as a special report later in the programme, but really was more Tonight with Trevor McDonald stuff, while the less said about Bedroom TV, the better.

Astons and graphic wise not too bad - certainly far better than on Sky News itself. The music isn't as bad as I first thought either.

The set - I think it be better without the sofa and with Natasha just standing at that desk thing, with a second area for either a sofa or a second desk or something.

Funniest thing throughout though was how a few seconds into each story Natasha would suddenly move her arm to slouch on the couch, as if she was being told to do so by the director. Surprised no one else picked up on that - she did it on virtually every story.

P.S. Thanks Bail for all the caps, and also for launching a new thread now the look has launched. Makes things much easier to find.

Wow, the show was actually impressive. The stories were good too.

The Bedroom TV thing was a bit cheesy and tacky, it's okay for 5pm, but if they show that at 7pm there must be something wrong with the editors!

All in all this is good, but why does she keep moving her arm onto the armrest? Can't she keep still for a moment?

Next time I'll stick to either 60 seconds or the beeb's 8pm summary Laughing

Better than I thought, glad there were no celebs, content is worse than ever. Still, they did get Breakfast's editor to take charge - explains a lot!

And sorry but if Natasha has a script writer (not that tonight's was any special) Natasha really is a 'presenter' now as apposed to journalist! What are they paying her to do - turn up at 5 and 7 and read 5 minutes of lines on an autocue (trying hard to keep her face as straight as possible) before driving home in her flash car?

I'd like to see Kate Gerbeau and Matt Barbet as the main relief presenters for the 5 and 7, with Helen Fospero covering the lunchtime during absense/ holidays!

Did we really just watch the same program? Confused

Oh and graphics were OK (much better than before - could never stand the purple) but don't really like the music, and the break means they barely have any stories!

It wasn't that bad.

Graphics wise, fantastic! It was great, I really liked the music and titles.

However, content wise there wasn't much really, the reporter at the High Court must have only been on air for what? 30 seconds? Also, the top story wasn't that fascinating, we know people dodge a ban, it wasn't a hard hitting exclusive at all. Also, like a few others have picked up on, I hated the way Natasha was putting her arm on the sofa at the start of the stories, it looked as if she was uncomfortable when she was doing it, and then the camera had to move! It was just annoying - I don't know if the only reason she was doing it was to make it look like she was sat back and "relaxing". But the set still screams The Paul O' Grady Show to me.

Bit pointless at it ending :22 minutes past, they could have at least pushed it to :25. By the way, where was Natasha's big "Human-Interest"/ Celebrity interview? Maybe it will be at 7 - but I would have thought she would have mentioned it.

New weather graphics also!

Thanks, thought it made sense to have pre launch discussion and post launch separate.

I've added more videos to the first post as well for people who missed it
