Rather than just cutting the 7pm weekday Five News in half, why don't Sky News actually *move* it to a less "news overkill/clashing" time? Rolling Eyes

That would be up to Five, not Sky.

In Channel 5's early days, wasn't their main bulletin at 8pm or something?

It was at 8.30 back in 1997.

I know this has probably been asked & answered before, but does anyone know whether Sky will keep the excellent five news music when they take over?

How are they going to fit in the news in that slot?

The excellent Five News music was axed over a year ago!!!

As for 7pm - Five won't move it as it's easier to put the news out than compete with Emmerdale.

just to ask, is the music the orinigal one but updated or the scratchy violins (2nds my favourite)?

I agree with that. The amount of news, reports and even a promo for the next show that they can fit into 15 minutes always surprises me.

The good thing about it will be that it will seem more pacey and keep everyone on their feet.
Taking into account adverts after the programme, won't the programme only be 12 minutes or so long?

Unless they have the full 15, a minute for weather and schedule the following programme to begin at 19:20.
