Julie MacDonald reporting for Five News on the Russell Brand/Katy Perry wedding tonight - about as completely opposite from anchoring on Al-Jazeera as you can get!
Blimey, yes. I didn't know she had left AJE. (especially to report on Five News).
Must be because Sky can't share their only forecaster. Maybe they shouldn't of let them all go.
Wonder how that might affect the contract, because they didn't use to use Sky forecasters only for cover, then FIVE let Lara go and now (even though new owners) FIVE have to have their own again. Circles
Sian Welby, 24, was working as a shop assistant at high street store New Look when she got the call to say she had landed the job on the flagship news programme.
Good to know she's qualified, then.

Channel 5 and Sky News are also in discussions about a replacement for the newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky. It is expected that Matt Barbet, the former BBC newsreader who has been proved a success for Channel 5, will front one of the channel's news bulletins, while the other will be fronted by a new female presenter.
It is understood that a number of "glamorous" women have been suggested by Channel 5 as news and weather presenters. But Sky News wants to ensure news credentials are not compromised.
One source claimed: "Channel 5 seems keen to hire someone glamorous. Put it like this, they're not after a seasoned war reporter. Unless they look like Jordan of course."

Well Matt would be the best choice in my eyes he's used to the programmes , hes an excellent presenter has been an excellent number two to madam and has presented it pretty much the most over the last three years I think five are rellay going in the wrong direction no one Is going to watch five news just because some good looking girlies on it at the moment Sky provides a credible news service for five and Desmound does not seam to understand there is a differnce between cheepy crappy newspapers and excellent news services.
I would like to see the 7pm programme made flagship again , like it was when Isla did it on the proper set and in a different style to other programmes and I think if there going to keep Live from studio five which has improved slightly then they need to move set .
The thing about Mr Desmond is that it'll be done his way or not at all.
If as we've seen with the promotion of the likes of Pollyanna Woodward on The Gadget Show and Sian Welby on Five Weather, he may seriously consider Isla Traquair or someone cheaper who currently works on the regional magazines.
There's this Scottish presenter - glamarous but also a good reporter and journalist. Could be good for a bulletin around 7-ish, perhaps with Matt doing the 5pm bulletin. Someone who is both respectable as a newsreader
and
eye-candy, I think she'd be perfect.
And now I've got a feeling of déjà vu.
In all seriousness, interesting to see who they come up with. Assuming Sky aren't going to want to loose anyone from Sky News, names like Riz Lateef or Andrea Benfield spring to mind. Though I'm not sure if they're the sort of person Five are going for, nor that the likes of Riz or Andrea would want to join given they're not doing badly with national news coverage at their respective networks.
My money is on someone who isn't actually a journalist or someone from a region somewhere. Whoever it is shouldn't get their hopes up of it doing great things for their career though - the days when Five News had any sort of a standing or reputation are long gone.
And tell me Live from Studio Five is going soon...
