But aren't they going to do a neighbours hour? Surely the news would come after that?

A Neighbours hour ? I didn't know of any such plans until now. Even then after an hour of badly scripted poorly delivered lines with odd accents plus dated hairstyles. Are the Five viewers ready for another half hour of the same with nat?

Sorry! Meant Aussie hour - Home and Away with neighbours.

I imagine now the 7pm bulletin is half an hour again they'll cut the early bulletin to 15 minutes and air it at 5.15pm, with Neighbours at 5.30pm before Home and Away at 6pm, with a random filler at 6.30pm before the main 7pm bulletin.

They can't. Thier licence says there must be a full length bulitin in peak time (after 6pm). They got special permission to reduce it to 15 minutes recently, however they have now a full 30 minute programme at 7 again.

John Suchet did his last show with Five news today. I had no idea he was leaving so it came as a little bit of a surprise. In terms of presentation I think five news is looking suddenly rather devoid of talent.

I guess they're not renewing his contract thanks to kerplunsky. I assumed they had chosen to keep Jon on when Kirsty returned, but perhaps she didn't want to work full time...
