So still no news on any new presenter I see. I know he's hardly high profile, but I'd love to see Martin Popplewell get the job. He's criminally underused on Sky, and he's familiar to long-term viewers of the show as he was on in the ITN days. I reckon Kay Burley is a possibility too, following her stint a few months back on the 5.30 show.
My money's on one of the ITV News presenters though - either Mary, Katie or Nina.
I expect them to go with someone from Sky News; I'm not sure that Mary or Nina have a sufficiently distinctive style to make a single-headed bulletin their own.
but the article says they are going for a 'big-name'. Nobody at Sky fits that description.
I don't like any of the names mentioned. Stamfords the guy with ickle eyes like Roger Melly ( the bloke on the telly ). I couldn't watch him for more than a minute so please no.
The sum they've saved not paying old kirsty anymore enables Five to at least get in someone of reasonable quality and hopefully not some mediocre presenter . Good luck to them.
So is matt Barbet's job a new role then? Or is he taking over from someone? i assumed kate would replace kirsty and matt/ helen would replace kate. but by the looks of it kate's staying put on the lunchtime or surely she would have moved by now!

*sigh* if only it was Moira I think anyone who enjoys proper newsreading would start watching Five. Although I can't honestly see Natasha bringing people over to Five, I can see someone watching neighbours might stay if they saw natasha... :
imnogoth....i think you may have a point re the neighbours lot staying on to watch the news if NK is presenting it. Been an expensive year for C5 I can't understand where they get all their money from.
RTL their owners are the ones with deep pockets arn't they ?
I'm confused ( again ) I thought the news would go out before Neighbours, so whether kerplook is on the news makes little or no difference to viewer inheritance, if thats the right term.
I'm adamant I will not watch five news with her on.
