It's just the presenter shot (or has been so far).

I imagined that they would only use the close up shot and a CSO on the short weekend bulletins. These next week's shows are going to be awful with nothing but a head shot of the presenter over a longer bulletin.

When Five had their last news studio remade at ITN at least they had a reasonable temporary studio to use. I'm still hoping that they come up with something better than this for next weeks shows as from a personal POV i'm probably not going to watch after next week.

all new Phil
I can't understand why there is such a negative reaction to this relaunch before it's even happened. They will still be covering the important news stories of the day, as they have said all along. The US shows they are aspiring to be like are all very good at what they do.

I can't help but think a lot of this negativity is purely because of who will be presenting. I don't understand why people dislike Natasha so much here.

I suspect its because some members have a very negative view on Natasha and the idea of treating the major news of terrorism, destruction and death in an informal manner.

I think when the new look comes to air, most people will give it another look, but negative opinions on Mrs Kaplinsky will no doubt prevail.

I thought this relaunch sounded a little silly at the start but after seeing/hearing about it, it'll be interesting to say the least.

However agreeing with Phil, I can't see why people are so negative towards Natasha and I bet most members here don't like her because some don't and they thinks its ok just to hate her too. Ask them for a reason for their dislike and you'll get a poor excuse.

I have nothing against her apart from the fact she didn't suit the BBC. Five may turn out to be her place.

She did kinda make a splash on the Beeb, after leaving Sky News. I reckon its just fatigue in the fact she was featuring in many other BBC Shows, instead of just from the News Bulletins/News 24.

.......

Half an hour of head & shoulder shots and only a split screen for the live links was hard going to watch. I found it unusually uncomfortable to sit through the whole of tonights Five news without the studio.

Can't believe they have only had that set 2.5 years! Just goes to show nothing lasts these days.

Im intrigued to what the new Five News will be like. What will happen to other regular presenters such as Kate Sanderson? With Natasha doing the two main programmes is there a need for all the other presenters that are normally there?

It be more like 3 years won't it - the contract changed on Jan 1st 2005 IIRC - and this look has lasted longer than any previous Five News look.

I'm only quoting what it says on Natasha's blog.
