The Five News website is also getting a LONG overdue make over. With Best of Five News clips etc.
The guy in that clip is the director, not an editor. And a COMPLETELY new set will be on air for the 18th... it's just a question of how quickly they can fit it all in!!!!
Haven't we got Richard and Judy for "human interest and celebrity"?
The beauty of 5 News ten years ago was that along with the style, they had the substance - but it sounds like that's on it's way out as Five fail to realise that even those with a subscription to Heat are getting tired of the celebrity led news agenda.
Do you think they'ver started to dismantle the set? The end of the 5pm programe looked very pre-recorded and generic. Didn't see the rest of the show so don't know if there were any wide shots or not.
I don't think they are dismantling the set yet in midweek. I though that would start on a weekend <?> That's a new shot just showing the roof and the top of the studio which I first saw yesterday.
The 7pm and 8 pm news bulletins were both from the studio and it looked the same as the earlier news.
Perhaps the closing sweep of the top part of the set is pre-recorded (perhaps even a few differing ones have been filmed, and the presenter is coming from a CSO). The view of the top their excuse for not showing the whole set without the right presenter.
They used that closing shot again tonight, but when it got to the purple wall, it just changed to the endcap with the five logo.
Maybe they've began dismantling the 'second level' of the set so to speak?

No it was still there when they went into the ad break.
Seeing the 7pm bulletin tonight, I can't see how thats possible. There was a jib sweep and you saw Helen but then the old weather screen at the bottom of the stairs and the five logo, if it is CSO its got to be the best yet!
Apparently the new Five News will take a "positive approach to reporting the day's events", and try to make the news "a little less dismal".
Other bits of interest...

David Kermode said: "A lot of news is very depressing and can be fairly heavy to watch. We will continue to do serious hard news stories when required, but a significant amount of the daily programme will be dedicated to a more positive news agenda whether it be a cancer survivor or an act of heroism.
"It will be something which makes you feel good to be alive."
Kaplinsky will also have an informal dress code and could present the news in jeans and a T-shirt.
Shaw's other major changes include bringing a daytime feel to the studio and ridding it of technology and gadgets such as plasma screens and video walls.
He said: "I am fed up with this willy-waving around technology on the news. Everyone knows what a plasma screen is and people are not impressed by it any more. It's time to move on and go back to basics."
Five is staying tightlipped on the exact details of the new set but Kermode said there would be no desk. He confirmed Kaplinsky would be seated, but would not confirm whether she would be on a sofa.
He said the emphasis was on creating a relaxed and informal environment to reflect its daytime slot.
