Five News

I see Francis Wilson did the weather on five tonight. Was this his first five broadcast? I am suprised five did not get him to be the main presenter of five weather, he is much better than Lara and his experience shows in his broadcasts, which makes them more informative. Its only a pity the broadcasts could not be longer than a minute, i think they should be atleast two and a half minutes, especially after the bad weather that we have been getting.

Former Five News presenter Louisa Preston now on BBC London, i know it was said before, but i just wanted to show this!

No, never move Francis to five. He probably gets more viewers on Sky News than Lara on five does anyway.

Oh how the mighty have fallen, Francis Wilson playing second fiddle to Lara Lewington.

For some reason Lara was better when the Weather still came from ITN, but I think she looks very out of place at Sky, it is completely different, such as no-one ever referred to her on the ITN Five News and she just came on infront of a full CSO screen, now it's just a window and it looks odd.

But bring on Francis Wilson, great seeing him doing the Weather. Plus it's probably his first terrestrial broadcast in years!

Francis is rubbish.

I like Francis Wilson's soothing tone when presenting the weather, Lara sounds like she should be teaching Nursery kids, not presenting the weather.

Oh yes, he looks well cleaned up these days thank goodness!

I think Julie Etchingham has been brilliant; she is professional, authoritative but also has a calm, friendly tone.

I think she is the best female sky/five have and they should make sure they keep hold of her!

You've got to be kidding...
The total five audience dwarfs the number of people watching Sky News - they regularly pull in figures into the millions at any one time.

Good to see Louisa Preston presenting on the local BBC news , it would have been a waste of her experience if she was kicking her heels around London just doing reports. She hasn't changed her style at all and looks very much at home working for the Beeb.


As for julie etchingham and her shifts on Five News , i think she needs to be a bit more livelier . Shes too softly spoken compared to the others . So wake up Julie !! and be more animated , its the news not an advert for Nytol.


Was there a communication breakdown at sky yesterday both Charlie and Julie said ' Laras next with the weather ' and it was Francis Wilson. It looks a bit poor when that happens twice.
