What's Charlie Stayt going to do tonight, I wonder!

Kirsty Young in fact. Her and Julie appear to have re-appeared in their usual roles today after a week or so off (presumably preparing for the new look)

How long has Kirsty been off? Whenever I've switched over to Five News, it's always Charlie Stayt.

Not sure when she 'left' ITN but it looks as though she has come back for today only to present the last full length evening programmes.

A case of first one in last one out. Kirsty had a bit of a twinkle in her eye when she opened up the 5.30 show tonight.
She made a point of thanking everyone at five news at the end of the 7pm show. Behind her through the coloured glass the news team were waving at the cameras. A great way to finish.

Lara Lewington seemed a bit 'enigmatic' with her forecast this evening, I wonder what shes doing next year.

I watched the lunchtime bulletin and I have to say good riddance to Five news whilst it was with ITN, because the signature tune was so awful and irritating! Lets hope they have a new and much better one soon!

Does anyone know if it will take a sky news twist for example, similar theme or similar titles?

That tune was not ITN's but a decision imposed on them by the channel.
Very few people there liked it, but when the customer makes a demand, there is little room for manouevre.
As a member of the FIve News team, I can assure everybody here that over the last seven years, we have provided a top notch service with the resources we have had.
It was no secret that we had paltry resources compared to ITV and Channel Four, but nevertheless, we churned out inventive programmes EVERY day using whatever we had to the best of our ability. And every single one of those people in that newsroom put in 110% to the service.
The new look Five News launches at 5:30 on January 3rd and, I am assured, will be totally independent of Sky's service in terms of on-screen look and will be a million miles from the service currently offered by ITN.
But it's not all over for ITN - the service will continue until the final bulletin on NEw Years Eve

Yes, I like the current Five News theme too.

Will the new theme be anything like SKY News for example, using same instruments and same key notes but different tune?

it will be whatever five want it to be. Sky News only produce the content, the music, logos etc are all down to five, so I dont expect much if any sky news branding.

Does anyone know if ITN is planning to make use of the space at the front of 200 Gray's Inn Road currently occupied by Five News - or will they hand it back to the owners of the building?

If ITN's contract runs out on Dec 31st 2004, assuming some sort of New Year's Eve midnight bong bulletin is planned, who will be responsible for it?

I reckon if they do any kind of bong bulletin it'll be handled by ITN. I believe they're actually handling the five contract on Jan 1 and 2 2005. The first Sky produced bulletin goes out on Jan 3rd 2005.
