David Chater's going to be Sky's Africa correspondent? He has led the way for Sky News on the front line with the biggest, especially foreign news stories for years. What's the inside story behind this surprising move?

A nice retirement in a nice home in Johannesburg?! Or, more likely, beefing up Africa coverage which all networks seem to be keen on doing at the moment?

Beefing up Africa coverage would be much appreciated. Chater's a long way from retirement age!
I hope they don't just cover the Mark Thatcher story.

Any more news on where Rob Butler will be in the new year?

Looking at the Christmas edition of the Radio Times it would appear that the last full-length weekday Five News produced by ITN will be this coming Friday 17th December. The Noon, 1730 and 1900 slots from thereon appear to be short updates.

The ITN website has recently been rejigged - and all reference to Five News has been removed from the home page.

The pages are still at www.itn.co.uk/five though

Rob Butler presented his last News At Noon earlier - any idea what he'll be doing now?

I found it quite sad [emotionally] when Rob said towards the end: "And thank you for watching Five News At Noon over the last seven years. Bye-bye." Then, he looked sad waiting for him to go off camera while the music played. Aaahhhhhhh, bless!
What's Charlie Stayt going to do tonight, I wonder!

Kirsty Young in fact. Her and Julie appear to have re-appeared in their usual roles today after a week or so off (presumably preparing for the new look)

How long has Kirsty been off? Whenever I've switched over to Five News, it's always Charlie Stayt.

Not sure when she 'left' ITN but it looks as though she has come back for today only to present the last full length evening programmes.
