Hmm I wonder what the Sky News production caption will look like. Any ideas?

First thoughts :
Pity the first headline ran from a freeze (should run from a second or two of early vision)
Interesting studio layout - nice that it isn't flat, and is much more "in the round"
Very odd main Kirsty close-up framing - what is going on with that? Kirsty's eyes are almost in the middle of the screen - completely against the basic rule of "thirds" - eyes should be roughly one-third the way up the screen for a shot to look natural. It was really obvious when they used boxes to talk to Andy Bell - he was framed fine... Maybe they are trying too hard to get a "super tight" close-up - but it doesn't look great.
Colour balance of the studio is also really odd - the cameras seem very "cold" - Kirsty looked very "blue".
Quite a lot of nice shots - the over the shoulder for down-the-lines looked nice. Feels a bit cluttered though - the steps are bizarre...
Projectors behind Kirsty look a bit washed out - looks like a bit too much spill from the studio lighting (possibly coupled with the screens being quite "light") When they are switched off and transparent they look really clear and nice.
Astons are a bit different (a bit like the soft red line that News 24 had after their first re-launch in Nov 1998) Don't really do it for me though.
Like the vertical plasmas as well as horizontal.
Pace feels a bit "sedate". Music nice but a bit "loose"?
Some of the 4:3 stuff isn't looking great when cropped to 16:9.
Nice to see Emma Brannam (ex of BBC Three) doing a pre-planned report - kind of identical to her BBC Three pre-planned reports - but without the multi-layer graphics and funky effects...

Well news wise the show is excellent.
However onto the presentation.
Studio
Quite nice. Those colours are very "american studio" aren't they. I'm not sure on the closeup shot of Kirsty either. The glass is very nice but I'd like to see it "turned on" as part of the show. Also the graphics that are projected onto the back wall are a bit poor.
Also why wasn't the rest of the set used? Why only the sofa. I wanted pointless strutting around the balcony.
Music
Not as crap as the violins but crap nonetheless. It has potential but then it just stops. Also that swooshy noise is annoying.
Graphics
Fine, no complaints there.
Weather
Pathetic. Not only are they using Sky's vile rain graphics but they have a 16:9 camera looking at a piss poor 4:3 CSO. Why is she meant to be in the studio anyhow? Fair enough if you have it as part of the show but not as a seperate show.
So overall I'm quite impressed but I think the music could do with a bit of a tweaking and the graphics could be improved a bit. Otherwise OK.

Hmm, interesting. I think that the studio is very good design, the two levels should hopefully work quite well, I like the colours and blocky five logo however the lower level is a bit of a disappointment. IMHO it would look much better using the design and colour scheme from the previous ITN design.
I didn't think the content was that great, the first story was a little contrived and more what I would expect of Tonight or Real Story on ITV (While not great conduct the aid and recovery operation focusing on the masses rather than one (possibly dead by their own families admission) is, i'm afraid understandable.
Overall I think ITN did a better job, maybe I just preferred/am more familar with the ITN team. It'll be interesting to see how it develops.

Im so dissappointed, i was expecting something really original and fresh!
The news content was good though! but i thought overall it was very average and had nothing that really set it appart from anything else.
Worst shot IMO was what potentially could have been the best one. the over the shoulder shot. ruined by the stair case covering the logo.
Liked the Glass, thought it worked well.
Music - nothing special
Graphics - OK, but i really dislike purple and it was used very heavily.
Close -Up on Kirsty was a bit too tight for me.
Studio- much smaller than i thought it was going to be.
NEWS -Good Quality but overall very average
