That looks very interesting indeed.
It will be interesting to see how they will use the special glass especially if they will use it over all of that space or just use sections at one time.
When I keep seeing these images the idea of a balconey is lost every time. I'm wondering whether it's going to be like ITV News' Balconey between 1999 and 2004, not in the fact of it being virtual, but just something to dress the set more.
By looking at it, it doesn't look as though the rails would even reach people's knees never mind the waste, so perhaps it's just their for extra decoration for the updates. A nice idea in a way, but a shame that it isn't a balconey. I suppose if they could walk along it, they'd have to be careful, it's higher off the ground than SKY News' big screen walkway.
Though it is a nice idea that if they've only got enough space for a bench and screens that they've built up, even if it's just for use in during the updates.
Does anyone know what will happen with the updates? Will they just be randomly around the schedule like around 2pm, 6pm, 9pm, etc or will they be more frequently, or even returning to every hour?
As for that plasma screen. It does look like it is a plasma screen, but if they've got this 'special glass' there, what is the point of it. Or will it just be to show the logo or a background to the a story being discussed with an interviewee in the studio and just use the special glass to show footage going into a report or a live link up, etc?
How does it work. From the article, it says that the glass frosts up, and I gather that it is then projected onto, is this frontal projection or rear projection?
Going back to the plasma, the image on it looks like the background to the start of the update except in oranges, maybe they'll have different colour pallettes for the day.
For example Lunchtime using oranges.
