Look at most of the five logos used in the recent idents. They are all made from objects, not just text overlayed. They obviously wanted a 3D representation of the logo, as that seems the way they like to present it lately. Also the logo for the programme is in 3D so it makes sense.

I am eagerly awaiting the bottom set, to see how it uses the upper set and how the newsroom (if any) intergrates.

Can someone explain the location of this set with regards to where Sky News plan to use their space. I am assuming it is part of the same design (building) with the double decked features, and also will Five make use of the huge newswall, that is said to be in the new Building?

If you check back Martin you'll notice that I posted that Sky's newnewroom will be in studio A, the four waller is the nicely sized studio B and five lives in studio C which is the smallest of the studios but still a decent size by Sky standards.

As for the Newswall i highly doubt it because it belongs to Sky News and for five to use it Sky News would have to be off air.

It is time all news was in widescreen, it's been pretty much the UK standard for 4 or 5 years with other programming. One solution would be something similar to most sports programmes - screen it in widescreen, but it appears 4:3 on terrestrial TV. All 4:3 pictures are pillarboxed to 4:3.

Yes but News flicks between 4:3 and 16:9 in single packages so it would be very very distracting

So are are studios A B & C brand news studios in a brand new Sky News building or have they always been there and have just been repurposed? Where was RI:SE broadcast from?

While I'm at it how many studios do Sky have? they must have several small ones for Sky Sports, travel but do they have many general purpose studios?

The BBC has, on-and-off, used the logo in the graphic windows, but never on a set. Perhaps there would be more of an uproar if they had done this, because the bulletins are a little more 'classy', for want of a better explanation.

Reporting Scotland's newsroom set has the BBC logo on a glass panel behind the presenter.

The TV Room only has the sport version but it's the same set.

To be honest, I was referring to the national stuff - but I didn't make that clear, so that's my own stupid fault Smile

A, B, and C are all brand new studios in the new purpose-build news centre they've constructed/are constructing.

Sky have a fair few studios in Isleworth. From memory, the present Sky News studio is Studio 2. The temporary one Sky News were in during summer 2001 was Studio 7.

Looks quite nice if truth be told.

I'm surprised- I was honestly expecting something more gharish. If this in any way reflects the kind of design for the new Sky News, it could be very promising- but of course there is no reason why they should look even remotely similar.

So the Five News set include the Five Newsroom then? Or is it in a seperate area partitioned with the set ala sky news at present, or is it not visible at all during the programme?
